Slaving away over a hot lathe and a equally hot mill for hours making dozens of ears for the dozens of guys with Soooper Bitchin 50s on order, taking only a short break to make some 4mm wheel spacers for Alex in Idaho, I get back grab a refreshing cuppa tea and whaddya think I see?

Nuthin?

OK what happened today? What is "FF"? What is DNF "Traffic Control" ? Just where they pooped out? What happened to TNAI Dave Clark? Tom B? Garth? Nate T?

Come on!

I'm sure stories will follow as people get some sleep and the rally hangover starts to wear off. So for those that can't wait, S3 had some issues with downed banner tape and a mid-point ham that didn't see 1/3 of the field pass his location - there's even a story about 2 cars colliding head on

This might explain Dave Clark Evolution 2's DNF today:

Oh, he quit for that? No spare? No spare lunk-nuts taped to the back-stay ready in one seconds notice?

No really why is it parked?

I don't see lugs and the rotor looks to be somewhat misplaced...

Stage was tossed becuase some folks accidentally short-cutted the course for some reason, then a couple of folks realized what happened and turned around on stage and one of them got hit head on.....no injury, some damage....it was a cluster. Dropped us from second to fourth by dropping the times, but I think we were the only ones it affected since most everyone else went the wrong way.

We hit a BIG rock after we committed to a line on a blind corner, taco'ed the LCA and flattened the right front. Got the car repaired enough to continue and tried to finish the last stage when the diff let go....1 mile from the finish. Bummer but it felt good to creep back up and play with Derik Nelson...he smoked us on day one while we were getting back up to speed. Homeboy is quick, made it fun again. I love getting beat!

You mean studs? And of course the rotor is cocked: the car is sitting on it....

The studs Shirley have been upgraded to the 14mm ones I yap the last 20 years to everybody about---not some limp, noodly, pathetic 12mms..
Shirley they're upgraded??

So why did the wheel fall off?

Maybe his crew forgot to tighten them. (just a guess)

There is always something new in rally. Someone took out two sections of banner guard opening up a 1.5 mile shortcut. We believe 13 cars took or missed the instruction. It allowed competitors to slot in front of the car in front of them. Or they maintained position but ate massive dust. A good route book. Two pass received available. Nothing is fool proof it seems. Can't say if the first car made a mistake or not. It was impossible to be certain if more or less cars missed. Probably a two minute advantage. Then the collision from a novice turning around and backtracking and colliding with another car that was also off route. We couldn't determine an absolute way to correct the situation. Stage was regretfully tossed. I was chairman and brother that was a very hard decision.

We spectated and had a great time.

Derik is becoming quite the M3 salesman. I spoke to three people yesterday who were in the middle of building m3 gravel cars. He was very fast in the sections we saw him in. Very tidy, no drama.

Hintz is spectacular to watch. Him & Adam Crane are by far having the most fun out there. Hintz's car sounds awesome at full throttle.

Dave Clark's car looks/sounds insanely fast I can't wait to see them get more comfortable with the car.

You know TNAI Dave Clark--Sean's car is a stock Ford 2300 turbo. Stock flywheel/clutch. Stock valves, stock stock stock.. Junkyard intercooler. Stock 2.6 turns steering

It has: some T5 box,
one of my (and I mean it's actually MY diff on loan to Sean ) Toyota diffs with a 4.3 final drive and a LSD
JVAB suspension and brakes...some home-made adjustable lower arms.

I think the T5 that Sean found has the same ratios as stock box..
So stock but for 4.3 LSD diff, a junk yard intercooler, suspension and brakes..

Pretty damn good for near stock..
See why I push them?

I went out and picked up Dave from the stage, there aere no studs left in the hub (ARP's) and the lug holes of the wheel were augered out. Sucks too because he is getting pretty comfy in that car.
