Of those 4 health effects...

1) Good thing I drink no more than 1 a day and not 8 cans in a 7 hour period. So I shouldn't worry about my heart exploding like that one guy.
2) Risk of miscarriage? Even if I could get knocked up I drink less than 140mg of caffiene a day and they suggest less than 200mg. If it's ok for a pregnant woman to have 200mg of caffiene a day I figure I'm doing good.
3) An increased risk of alcohol injury and dependence? Don't drink alcohol
4) Risk of drug abuse - Don't do drugs
5) wait... wasn't this four health effects? Impaired cognition... Well considering if I don't drink caffiene in the morning I'm far worse off. So it's better than nothing.

But thanks for your concerns.

I was going to say, none of the health risks are really health risks.
Like some comedian said, "If I could choose any disease, it would be alcoholism. At least then when you have a relapse you have fun."
I'm fairly useless without a cup of tea in the morning. Rougher mornings will often see a latte as well. I buy PG Tips in boxes of 250 from the Indian market. It's a stong non-floral black tea. Cost per tea bag is 8 cents. Add in the half teaspoon of sugar and splash of milk (~1-2 ounce) and my total cost per cup is around 12 cents. I use these cool little breast milk storage things to bring milk and sugar with me so all I have to do is find hot water to make another cup of tea.

PG Tips FTW! We get 'em in bulk from Amazon. Usually a bit fresher than the local Indian shop.

Now, where did I put those Digestives?

Why didn't I think of that! The Indian market is 20 miles away so not exactly convenient when we need to go! Amazon is 2 cents cheaper per bag also! That gets me to a dime per cup! Wicked!!! The thing that annoys me most are little kids that are brainwashed into the whitest teeth contest. "Uncle Grant, your teeth are brown!" No shit, I drink 2-8 cups of tea a day.

Try 40+ years of 5-8 cups a day.. I rarely get sick (injured, ripped to pieces, wounded, yes. Sick not so much) and I figure the reason is that from lips all the way thru to the end of the exhaust system the tissue is tanned like the leather used for soles of shoes. Bad bugs and germans (microbes, diseases, etc) can't get a bite in so they cant infect the moist juicy insides of the body...
Or...the concentrated tannic acid embalms the baddies.
Same thing on the teeth, first cavity was after 40. Nice hard teeth--but they ain't refrigerator white.

In reality the few really well heeled teams should be providing more financial support.

How about this: Same entry fee for everyone... it's 4% of your vehicle's value.

Grassroots: $8,000 car, $320 entry fee
Mid level: $20,000 car, $800 entry
What I'm told are about $250,000 cars at VTSC... $10,000. Thanks for your support, Subaru!

winking smiley

Anders

NOW THIS I AM DOWN FOR!

Justy was built a few years after John's Saab, so steel prices were higher. My entry fee... $94

Hey all, I wanted to let people know what is up with the rally roads at NEFR.
As the Chairman of the NEFR I wanted to explain how we could afford to fix the roads and answer some of your questions.
For 20 years the rally used roads without fixing them up after the event, this started to cause the land owners to think there was no upside to letting us continue to use them... so the event was in danger of loosing the best roads we had.
So when I got involved the first thing was to win over the land owners by offering to bring the roads up to good condition, we used the money from entry fees from the last few years.
Now we have happy land owners and a smooth rally. I hope that clears up some of the confusion, best of luck to all teams competing in New England and West Virginia next weekend!

Is that sustainable? Can we maintain the roads going forward to the owner's satisfaction at current entry fees?

NEFR will be my first gravel rally! I can't wait. I appreciate there being fewer things in the roads to jump out at me and wreck a tire or my suspension. smiling smiley

Tim.

Most events plan a budget for road repair anyway. With Tim owning the equipment already it's probably cheaper for his crew to do it then to hire someone else to do it.

Thanks for jumping in, Tim. Great to hear you (and the organizing team) are working to make the landowners happy.

Unfortunately, I'm not making it up again this year. I have to go learn how to smile at customers for my new part time job next weekend...gotta pay the bills somehow.
