Whew. Faster is always better! Good to know there won't be any need to buy the new Bilstein product from Team ONeil since the roads are so smooth now. smiling smiley
Wonder where the $10k came from. Volunteer meals? Afterparty?

Entry Only $1900 + $300 if combined....
TWOTHOUSAND-TwoHundred dollars for 120 miles a deal at $18.33/mile

And for the low budget clubbie guys, ONLY $1100

Up only 550% since 1995. But hey we're all making more than 550% of what we were in 1995, right!

I wonder if the workers get any grub?
Of if there's any volunteer's gas fund or volunteer's lodging arrangement..?

A lot of money going somewhere. Currently $61,000+ just "National" entries...

Meanwhile RA is discounting the fees for the Southwest series events or so Duhknees is saying. Seems fair...

$800 seemed reasonable for an early entry (a little steep, but reasonable), until I noticed that early entry closed six weeks before the event and normal entry was $1100. Then that closes a week before the event and it jumps another $500.

I can understand organizers needing money to fund an event (BTDT) and imposing a
hefty jump for late entries just to really really really encourage people to sign up
early (BTDT too), but those price jumps seem extreme.

I dunno what the prices are for the SWRC or what the overhead is. Mendocino seems
priced about right, at $650/$700/$750 for its ladder. I'm not planning on doing any
of the other RA events in the SW this year, so I really haven't been paying attention
to their pricing structures.

As for the road conditions, I'm all in favor of smoothing out roads if possible. It just makes it easier for the little guy to run since there's less car damage to deal with. Granted, if the cost for smoother roads is just reflected by (much) higher entry fees, the point becomes sort of moot.

We finished well but bent 4 stamped steel Subaru control arms in 2011. I'm okay with a little smoother.

As an organizer of 2 rallies (a national and regional) one of the most stressful parts is not knowing how many cars will enter. I feel that the goal of the entry fee structure is to encourage people to enter early. My take is that early entry fee is a reward for people to commit to your event and late entry a penalty for waiting until the last minute to pay.

As for Mendocino fees, I think $50 one way or the other isn't much of an incentive/penalty

For NEFR I plan on doubling my post event tear down/ repair effort BUT I still don't get the smoothing thing. unless they are going to start blasting through the granite ledges or prying every baby head out of the road it's never going to be "smooth". it's not fun unless you're bouncing the exhaust off the high center of the road at the top of 4th right? Maybe we'll be there next year.

What I got out of it "Additional work was spent rebuilding bridges and culverts on the Fish Pond and Icicle Road stages, which allowed the organizers to bring back Fish Pond and the Hampshire Hills stages for this year’s running of the New England Forest Rally." isn't that what's important

Late entry penalties up here are ~$150-$200 in the regionals and a bit more in the Nationals. The Nationals agreed, but not all did, to set the deadline 3 weeks before the event. It is also worth noting that the rules mandate 100% refund if a competitor withdraws their entry 48hours or more before the start of registration.

We had a regional a few years ago that had something like 4 teams entered by the early deadline and it actually started 13, some who showed up at the event with no indication they were coming. It could have been a problem for simple things like routebooks and it was a problem for the awards ceremony/banquet.

I've also rarely met an organiser who wouldn't consider extreme situations and look at waiving any late entry penalty.

The only question I'll ask is, any of you guys commenting on why the "smoother" roads ever run this event? Particularly in the last 10 years? If not, you've got no basis to comment. BTDT, got the T shhirt. My $.02 as having been there every year except 2 since it's inception.

If past performance is any indication, the 33% more might be a bit high, but I will be pleasantly surprised if they run 100% of the scheduled miles.

Oh no, Don't say that! You'll be taken to task (as I was). I hope them the best and hope they do run all the miles on time. But one of my "famous" saying is a pessimist is an optimist that knows better. I won't be there this year to help as I'm committed to NEFR as my son is chief of controls and I want to help him.

I have to say, that i'm fully confident after last year that RWV will run all the stages provided something strange doesnt happen like the 0 car wrecking like last year.

However it was not cheaper. $250 more than early entry at NEFR, i considered doing NEFR instead but RWV is only 4 hours for me.
