I dunno, it could get messy very fast. Depending on how detailed we're supposed to get my list could end up taking up most of a page.

Gene's would probably crash the whole forum! spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

Taking into consideration JVL's verbosity, he would probably have to create a whole new forum just for his list. tongue sticking out smiley

Instead of adding this to the sig at the bottom or on the side. What about adding an info section under the control panel. Turbotards does that and it can be helpful.
So let's say that Jimmy GoFast (tm) want's to know if Roundy-Round Ron has good info on rally, he could click his name and see that Ron only does roundy-round racing. So, Jimmy takes info with grain of salt or chooses to follow it completely.

Less cluttered that way, simple.

Stop making sense.

Guys like Dave and Gene and Robert would have to write a friggin novel. Guys like mr. most-experienced whatsisname would also write a novel, providing the rest of us with a whole new cesspool of bullshit to wade through. "honor system" doesn't work if a feller ain't got none. People like that have a way of revealing themselves anyhow. I hope most of us are smart enough to tell the difference tween experience and excrement.

Couldn't we have a bio where you could write a paragraph or a list in your profile? Like Robert said.

You're over thinking it.
I'm not suggesting essays about what each of us has done. I'm also wouldn't want to see it turn into a brag-fest.

Maybe something more like this:
Driver (7), Co-Driver (35)
Clerk (7), Official (8), Volunteer (3)
Cars Built (1), Engines Built (0) Cages Built (0)
Last Updated, July 9, 2013

Simple categories. Straight-up stage rally experience. Doesn't include my 'administrative' experience or any 'fluff'. Probably needs to be checked against reality as I don't keep a running list of the events I've run and this is from memory.

I initially had clerk under the 'official' count, but think Clerk of the Course is sufficiently unique that it should be counted seperately.

(Side question. Is 'Clerk of the Course' generally understood as being the final authority for event operations? I heard 'rally master' more commonly when I was starting and our radio net still uses Rally Master as the tactical call sign for the Clerk.)

First Rally: 2001
Driver (7), Co-Driver (44)

Clerk (10), Official (7), Volunteer (4)

Sure, it helps, but really - the basic newb doesn't have a clue who 'Adam Vokes' is any more than they wouldn't know who Mr. Magic is.
I disagree. There's many people whose name I know from having rallied (maybe with them) for many years. But if their handle on here is JoeBumF^&k, I have no idea who it is. Maybe to meet your suggestion, just something like "codriving for 10 years, driving for 12 years, stage captain and worker for 10 years) and maybe estimated number of events over that time period.

I disagree. There's many people whose name I know from having rallied...

That's why I qualified the statement with 'the basic newb' - that wouldn't be you.
Then you get the occasional overseas furriner showing up and a name like Mark Everett wouldn't mean anything. (hell, for most people in BC Mark Everett wouldn't mean anything yet I suspect it means something to you.)

Adding a 'first rally' year, meaning competed in, isn't a bad idea.

Not really, people are just trying to make it complicated.
Have a look below vvvv
Easy-peasy.

If I start going on about how to weld a cage in or what pistons to use in an engine, no matter how authoritative I sound, it'll be clear I don't have a ton of real-world experience to lean on.

Inane.

Bwaa hahaha! Pot calling kettle! To be honest I wasn't thinking of you, man, certainly not in the "substituting experience for excrement" category... you're one of the ones who would have to write a novel and at your advanced years that'd be more pain and suffering than it's worth. Just lookin out for you, see. But some 20something in frinstance canada somewhere where it's cold and who ain't got nothin better to do aside from troll here could churn out page after page of fake rally CV garbage without worrying about arthritis or nuthin...it just isn't fair how youth is wasted on the young.

I'd put myself in the inexperienced category as I've only been doing this since 03 or thereabouts and only very intermittently at that. Poverty sucks. I really only know about where awd Mazdogs are most likely to break (insert complete parts list here). When rallying I know enough to get the car off the trailer and rely on codriver and crewchief for everything else, and have only recently gotten out of the involuntary red mist stage of driving.

Jay a sharp rebuke to an idiots like some punk kid living with mommy and daddy and talking shit does not mean somebody is angry...even when I was a young un like you I still only got angry about things that could realistically directly affect the life/heatlth of a) those i cared about or b) me...by 30 I had spent 3 years in wheelchairs or crutches, and now its twice that at twice the age..
Serious injury I get angry--yeah including with myself.

But stupid spoiled children whining, that isn't anger...its disgust and contempt...a different kettle of fish...
