Welcome to the group, Klim. Gorman is a rough first rally, IMHO. My advice to you before you spend all the cash is to get it out for some rally cross to shake it down and find anything loose that needs attention.

The Douche Canoe lives fairly close to you and can inspect your cage.

That's Mister Douche Canoe.

Klim and I are meeting tomorrow to have a look-see.

The cage looks pretty decent. There are several gussets missing (A-pillars, roof), and I'll have to take a close look at the welding, but it appears good. Those tube-gussets in the main hoop are overkill, but I consider them to be above-and-beyond the taco-gusset requirement so that's fine.

Just to update everyone:

That's some of the best welding I've seen in awhile. Very nice.

Sill bar could be lower, but it's within spec. Gussets missing, as mentioned above - should be an easy fix. Seats need remounting.

All in all, a good start.

Yep, going to get some metal today, try to have the gussets in this weekend. Welded a bunch at a welding table but never in the car, so, this is going to be exciting. If they come out good, I'll post pictureswinking smiley

Looks like gorman is going to be fun for the first rally. Jumps, no pace notes provided, stages after sundown. I think survival is what we will be shooting for.

Thanks to Michel for coming out and meeting with us, definitely cleared up a lot of things.

What is nuclear biophysics? Never heard of it, sounds intense. PhD in these kind of sciences is a major commitment. Be ready to commit to scientific slavery for 6 years. Its lots of fun though, a lot of really smart people surround you and point to your errors, so, you learn a lot. If PhD is what you want to do, try to start doing research as an undergrad, really helps.

Nuclear biophysics is basically the effects of nuclear radiation on biological whatnot. Specific subfield gray area thing.

Im hoping to stay in infectous diseases, but lots of things can interacts and relate, plus I'm a nerd for that kinda stuff.

Interesting, seems to be super specific. Never heard of that thing. I guess it will become more active area of research in connection with all this planned space travel to Mars. Infectious diseases on the other hand, that I heard aboutsmiling smiley We have a lot of people at UCSF working on that. Also, the other side of the battle between good and evil, the immune system is not very well understood and is incredibly cool. But it is good to keep your options open, you usually truly decide what you want to work on during the first year of the PhD.
