Hat brims should have some curve. Period. It's taken all the self-control I can muster to not destroy the flat-brim on one of my son's friend's hats.

Mind you, the '90s frat boy "wrapped around a Natty Light can" super curved brim is just as bad...

In retrospect i would rather see flat brims everywhere rather than pants hanging on for dear life to boxer shorts.

damn civic drivers!

Sorry Andrew, but I LOLed at that. sad smiley

Bunch of backstage action was missed: DVW's tantrum, the frantic efforts to get Lauchlin's engine replaced (which I helped with), Lauchlin passing a 600+hp drift car with a 115hp junkyard motor, MJ driving around in the pits trying to get his RX-8's tranny unstuck (was eventually fixed by Odi)...

As usual, most of the interesting drama was in the low-buck 2WD camp.

My understanding is that the 2WD guys were shafted on prize money by the GRC organizers, but Verdier paid it out of his own pocket.

Well that's what it is, an intentional exact opposite of the frat-boy and redneck exagerated factory bough super curve.

Both being mere poses. We see it in the traditional way jacked up street rods and imbecilic lifted pick-ups counter with low rider scraping the ground and cruising all slow like.

Fancy obsessive polished paint jobs and equally carefully made 'rusty' hoods..

Semiotics says it's a statement implying a whole range of presumed shared values and experiences and presumed membership in a social group..
Us vs THEM..

When really they're just mindless consumers all.

Changed it. I heard Rhys paid it.

I think ALL motor sports are better in person, the sound of the engines, the smell of race fuel, the rush of wind as what ever contraption blows by... sitting in a grand stand is ok for a few hours, but i'de rather be marshalling at a rally event, all day in the woods, cooking on a fire with friends...

Watching on TV sucks... GoPros and similar on board cameras have added to the feel, and sense of speed, but those good videos end up on youtube for free, and i dont count that as TV.

I be sorry as a muthafucka I did, still sorry I did n' hustled ta peep what tha fuck I holla'd a lil' bit better, or at least try to.

Well Irwindale was fun-hot-but fun...
Lucky it wasn't even hotter actually...

Didn't get to see Sean, as the pits were locked up tight-I shoulda known.......it's an X-games event now. sad smiley

No escort or credentials no entry!

Nothing like last time-all the drivers were kept away from the public-except for the mile-long line at the 45 minute only "autographing" session-fuck that!

Anyway-we were rooting for your boys-Sean-and they gave it a pretty good effort.

Here's a blurb of what happened Sunday for those that care:

Actually-like I said-even though I'm a Ford dude-Foust and Heikkinen win so much- I was excited to see Rhys and Isachsen win heats.

Looks like the Darts are getting there-hopefully they will catch up more to the Fiesta's with some more tweaks.

Too bad the Polo's had bad luck-nice looking cars...

I'm also used to seeing the Subies in GRC either fall apart, handle like crap,or just get driven poorly-so it was refreshing to see THIS guy/Car in action-he's quick-and can beat the Fords!
(Click on his start-page youtube link to see the final-which was carnage filled)
