We had a rough rally. Lost an EGR plug on our manifold at the beginning of stage 2 that left us without boost and with hot exhaust pointed toward some coolant hoses. Limped to service and plugged it with an aluminum -an fitting that lasted until the first stage of day two. Limped to service. Plugged it with another aluminum fitting that lasted 1.5 stages. We ended up withdrawing from the rally before the last stage at the last service. Sucks that a $0.40 plug cost us so much hassle. I had an iron spare but didn’t bring it with somehow. I had my crew buy some plugs but I told them the wrong size. One of these races we are going to make it through without any issues. Rallies are much more fun when nothing is going wrong. When we had boost the car was running good. We also managed to miss the start control at stage 12. Not sure what happened there. Haha. There were no cars in front of us when we showed up at the control so I think the start guys had assumed there were no more cars and we didn’t see them or recognize to stop at them. I take responsibility for not recognizing them. At least we got to watch Dan crash right after he passed us on stage 2. Glad you guys made it back into the race. My initial thought as I drove by and saw your wheel as you were trying to drive up the hill was “oh those guys are done for sure!” The weird part was this was the second time we witnessed an off immediately after the finish. It may have even been the same stage. It was last year and I can’t remember. It is bad luck to be right in front of us at the finish line. hahaha

What we did on my car was just weld that hole up. Saw some good pictures of your car, despite the problems looked like you were still having some good fun. Good luck at the next one! |

We did have fun for sure.
Thanks! I'm building a house and getting married so hopefully the next one is sooner than later but we will have to see. |
Funny thing was when my codriver asked, while doing 55, on transit.. "what happens if the strap breaks?" My answer: we probably go off the road. Him: violently? Me: yup. Him: (tightens harness) Time control guy said we actually cracked the rock, lolol |

Some worker near the end of that stage told me he saw somebody split a big rock in half and drag it down the road a bit. Guess that was you guys! Enablers, All of you. |

Would love if anyone has pictures of car #10.
We were going pretty good for most of the rally, making for an awesome 3-way fight for 1st 2wd. Had a spectacular start to the rally but had some unfortunate things slow us down halfway through. Ended up DNF'ing because of a brutal nose dive bending fans into the radiator and causing the exhaust manifold to crack and "explode". Had an awesome time anyhow. |
