Big thanks to all of the organizers, volunteers, and Washington County for putting on the Show-Me rally in Potosi Missouri this past weekend. Awesome job.

And thanks for Matt Brandenburg and Elliott Sherwood for providing some great competition in 2WD. That was awesome!

High speed spin in the bug:

This was in 5th gear. Same corner Pastrana went off and wrecked his car, so we are in good company! smiling smiley

This was a great event, in that we had a good back-and-forth going on with Matt B. Trading stage times and pushing each other to go fast. And also good that my lowly little beetle prevailed smiling smiley Amazing what a good driver can do. Another testament that it is not the car that generally determines the result. Keeping your foot firmly planted on the go-fast-pedal does!

That was one of my favorite stages the year Pastrana went off.
What was final length of the rally? Seemed like a decent regional rally. 45 minute winning time and seven stages with what appears to be no real issues. Was it all on Saturday? I forgot about the rally until my brother in law said something about codriving in Missouri last week. Missouri is pretty much the most local rally we peeps in Colorado have.

47.4 total stage miles. 6 forest stages, 1 super special. 3 roads total, 2 roads ran the same direction, 1 road run in reverse. We essentially ran a typical Friday of 100AW, although with 1 new road. Not too bad for $350

Some people complained about no notes. Meh. I look at it like a rally condition (mud, snow, codriver pukes) You can only drive as fast as the information you have, and/or take chances, and/or try and read the road.

If you gave them notes, they would complain about no recce.

Sounds and looked like a good time!

Conte you were way faster on stage 2 then most other stages. Was that stage your driveway or something? LoL Good job! You pretty much won that rally just on that stage! I was impressed in how tight times were for the top 5 cars. That makes for good rallies. A few more cars in the mix and rally might just be saved!

Honestly, I just prepared the shit out of myself for that stage. It is Floyd Tower West, a stage I have run in competition a bunch of times, as well as what I used to run when I was a punkass college kid. I'd drive down there with my friends and go drive that stage as it was the closest one to Rolla. So I practically have the 10 miles memorized. I also watched onboard videos several times a day leading up to the race. I knew I had quite an advantage over the competition on that one, so it was my plan to go as hard as I could right out of the gate to build up a lead. I think we had about 60% of the stage noted based on the tulips and there are just a lot of sections that you can stay flat out even though it doesn't look like it.

Turns out it worked out well since I picked up a flat going way hot into a L4 after being distracted by a pair of dogs on stage and riding a ditch hard. Changed the flat on transit and turned out my spare tire only had 10 psi in it (my dumbass fault). I drove SS3 very conservatively on any lefthand turn to preserve the tire. Ended up losing 30 seconds or so. On the transit between SS3 and SS4 we went 10 miles out of the way to a gas station in Viburnum to fill the tire up with air and made it back to SS4 control with some time to spare. From then on it was just maintaining that lead we built up on SS2.

Really fun race. I hope that Bugjai gets his car back together, and I hope that Pritchard can make it out next year! Great shakedown for 100AW. smiling smiley
