It's just so awesome. Love it! Just saw some ceremonial start via live stream, racing begins tomorrow!

Anyone been watching Robbie Gordon's road to dakar series?

My mind isn't "blown" (but it is! gordon's shop is crazy), I've been around big projects before (of the industrial kind), but honestly, his shop probably juggles the same amount of projects/man hours/budgets as the business unit I work in... or possibly double. Dolla dolla bills for a racing team/company!

I'm mainly just jealous. Watching the Dakar fuels my desire to do it someday... probably just a pipe dream doing the Dakar, but I'll settle for doing the Mexican 1000 again in my own truck.

Hell, I'd be a grunt just to be apart of it in person!

Anyone interested in Dakar needs to get an account on ADVrider... those guys crush it for Dakar coverage. Both finding all streams and loads of original content from people on the scene.

I haven't found anything else that's even in the same league.

If anyone wants to get their "pre-dakar" kicks on, there is some eurosport coverage floating around the interwebs of the africa-eco race which is basically the old dakar smiling smiley

My excitement is overwhelming! grinning smiley

in anticipation we just got done watching a 2 hour review of the 1994 Dakar, with it's "kamikaze goats" and the ugly as hell 4wd renault estate and the little fwd citroen visa that could (it even took a stage win and finished 8th overall)

Only on day 4 and the thread is already over 170 pages. Even if you just skim the thread, there's so much more info than any of the televised coverage, including a lot of the behind-the-scene stories that make the race more personal.
