They just posted video of their first stage on Facecrack. I'm suddenly intrigued. That looks like FUN.

Denise/Southwest Rally Cup folks putting it on, assuming they don't pull another "Drought in Cedar City in August? What an unexpected twist!"

(map in the link is all screwed up, but the jist of it was that it looked like an awesome ~7 mile stage with 2 ~1 mile straights tacked on to the end to make a 9 mile stage)

Fingers crossed for the event to actually happen and go well. Lord knows if it goes badly it's probably going to make it more difficult for me to try and organize anything locally.

Sadly we will be at Rallycross National Championships that weekend. Though one of the other shop owners might go to Utah. So far rallycross guys have been a much larger client base than stage rally. Of the 49 entries at Rally Idaho, only seven are our customers (14%). Interestingly, two of the seven Colorado entries are not customers.

About halfway through recce there has been halt. We are now transiting back to host hotel for a drivers meeting. Sounding like they are canceling some stages and reworking all the route books.

Apparently "local politics" are to blame...

I suppose it's better to figure that out and cancel stages during recce than race day...

UPDATE: 2 stages were lost today and 2 have been added. The instructions are being written and new route books made. This was unforeseen and has more to do with local politics than racing but the event is still going to run as planned, just a couple tweaks is the only difference. FYI: They have some incredible roads down here not to mention elevation changes...lol
