Take a look at this,
Quote Desert Storm website up and on the homepage only I have some information for competitors and volunteers. Thank you. FYI: Also note if you are worred about the fuel cell ruling....send me your pictures and I will discuss with JB and Mike Hurst your fuel cell and what can be done... which what Tom Grossman said in the other thread for Seed 9 can be done in about a half a days work... This was a SCCA rule several years ago but somebody accidently and not intentional deleted it and now it needs to get right back into the rulebook. NASA and CARS have a simliar fuel cell rule as well...I understand about the timing of this rule but it is a liablity.... So if you are deciding to do Seed 9 or Desert Strom or both send your pictures to me or to Tom Grossman and we will forward it on and we will get you answers ASAP. Since JB does answer me right away with my questions..since I am one of the stewards for Rally America. I have talked to JB and we have decided to look at your fuel cell via pictures and get you a solution ASAP and I mean ASAP. I will stay on top of it for you... Thank you, Denise McMahon Co-Chairperson - Desert Storm Rally Series Director-Southwest Rally Cup series Unquote I wonder if this means that they are coming back to their senses. RA is not stupid, they will of course use friendly figures like the McMahons to relieve the tension. This is a trick, a naughty trick. They want us to run RA events with exceptions about fuelcells. It won't work, fuck exceptions or car/competitor specific approvals. We want the rule to be rewritten with LOGIC, we want it to be the same for everybody. Cheers M.Samli Edited 1 time(s). What the hell is wrong with you?
What we REALLY want is 'Local Homoligization' based on who you know and how effective you are on your knees....... Without a LOT of coming to their senses I won't bother with any manner of RA event. John Lane JohnLane Volvo 260turbo AKA The Fire Breathing Monster Overkill is consistently more fun |

Here's my setup. The pumps and filters are in the old spare wheel well, and will be covered with a plate. -5 steel tubing for fuel lines through the passenger compartment. Steel braid covers on the hoses (except vent). Will fab a drip catcher thing around the filler cap.
Seems pretty stout to me. www.rallyrace.net |

Last Thursday I got an email from JB asking me why I was calling him a dictator and he was asking me to call him because I was not answering my phone.
We had a nice long conversation of 50 minutes or so, I let him know that he was not the one I had an issue with and that we had 5 cars in the STC out of which 3 were hatchbacks and had ATL or FuelSafe fuelcells. I see no reason to get in the details of the conversation and how I tried to reason with him. In the end he asked me to email him the pictures, I sent him not only the photos of the hatchback cars we had, I also asked him to come here to RallyAnarchy and take a peek at the Escort Cosworth photos I have posted. He was surprised to see that the tank in the Cossie was manufactured in 07/04, I don't think he liked seeing it. He told me that he would look at our photos and get back to me asap. I informed him that we were not looking for individual approvals and that if he was to tell me that the tanks were fine I was going to post them on SS and RallyAnarchy as examples of fuelcells that comply with RA requirements. I don't think he liked that idea either. I've been holding my breath ever since. This morning I decided to give him another call and see what was the result of their evaluation. He wasn't at the office, so I got a hold of him whilst he was driving to SnowDrift. He informed me that he didn't have an opportunity to show it to the esteemed technical gurus of RA but he showed my photos to "Some People In the UK" and that they told him that it was not aceptable and that they would not let the car run in England. Can somebody please explain to me what the hell that has anything to do with the price of tea in China ??? I was trying to be nice, I was trying to be polite, I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. I was mistaken. During our first conversation JB has told me that they were targeting the few cars that were using Jazz cells and the likes and that they did not have an issue with people using cells manufactured by reputable companies. I asked him whether it would be impossible to fail those cars during their annual inspection instead of modifying a rule that would effect a lot of cars. Apparently that was not faesable. So we are back to square one. At least now we know that our DSMs are not legal to rally in the UK. Cheers M.Samli Oh here are 2 photos of the fuelcell setup in one of our DSMs. The pump to the right of the photos is a water pump for the intercooler water spray, the fuel pumps are inside the fuelcell. Yah, it's actually an interchangeable system, 1.75 tube and a a bunch of PVC sleeves that go over it, I think we can make it look like all the way up to 5 inches thick, too bad it only comes in black or white and always readily available at Home Depot.
