We'll be doing driver interviews and some sights and sounds, but nothing more than that. When Anders and I can talk to 15+ drivers, catch some action in the service park, post up those videos the DAY OF the rally, and net 1,500 hits to the channel and social - we're doing pretty well in the ROI department. smiling smiley

Good luck with the climbing of hills! Hope to see you guys out soon.

Agreed!!! I'm pretty sure some of the MaxAttack vids we did barely netted that. And the action in service can be more exciting than what you can get on stage sometimes.

How do you measure the return? (what value do you put in a 'hit')

First Rally attended (2000), First Rally competed in (2001)
Cars Built (1), Engines Built (0) Cages Built (0)
Driver (8), Co-Driver (47), Drivers (19)

WRC Spectator (1), WRC Photographer (6), WRC Observer (4)
Rallies attended (120) Countries attended rallies in (11)

These are NRS trade secrets! smiling smiley winking smiley
Why spend $5K-8K - get 3,000 eyeballs on that one re-cap video (the first 30 seconds anyway...)
When you can spend ~$0 - get 1,500 eyeballs on many videos (that are usually under 2 min!)

Anymore video talk - and I vote we move to a new thread.

Comparative return between hiring and doing yourself is one thing. The question was more 'what is the return on doing videos at all?'
Up here, there is a strong sense that the Broadcast TV show we've had almost every year for over 15 years is an important part of drawing people to the sport... but of course that isn't really measured in a meaningful way. (And the TV is done with money that wouldn't come without the TV, so it is kinda 'free')
While it might be better to start another thread, I also doubt there is much more to be said on the topic... or is there?

I read in a magazine just yesterday something along the lines of, "they sat down in disbelief. Their internet ad campaign had a return of just 2 to 1, compared with at least 6 to 1 return from previous TV campaigns. Doubtless many started considering their coming job search."

The only measurable returns that matters to organizers or sanctioning bodies is attracting more entries or sponsors. I would contend that online videos like the MaxAttack ones I produced or online videos like you guys have been doing from service do either of those. What they do do is encourage engagement with friends and fans which I suppose could be meaningful?

WTF does that have to do with online videos and their ROI???
