You should absolutely share a trailer.

Local rental/radiator shop has been hooking me up with trailers at 50$ a weekend in exchange for the sticker in the rear window.
Shared trailer wants 400$ and the trailer has to 500lbs lighter than the rental jobbies. Borrowed it this last weekend and it's in fairly reasonable shape, and I dont have to store it in my driveway. |

I'd stick to the $50 plan. Even with long term good friends, shared items get weird when something changes and one of you has to pay up or whatever.
My version of the shared plan with buddies works by trading access to stuff we already own. Like, you can come over and use the TIG anytime you want and I can take your trailer whenever I need it. Or, I'll repack the bearings and keep the lights working on that thing if I can use it. Or, I'll have my kids attack your trailer with rustoleum and brushes if I can treat it like mine on rally weekends. Through these sorts of deals I have access to pretty much any size trailer at any time now and at a variety of locations.
