This one is great. Not the crash but the swearing. "Satana, satana! Oi, perkele!"
That's what you get for trying to pass an Ascona.

That Finnish in-car may be beautiful to watch, but here's some WRC in-car that is the other extreme

That's painful.

At Monte Carlo, when its not all snow for an entire stage they often run on the current FIA style slicks (thay have min 14% surface grooved) cause it may be pitiful slow in the snow or ice, but overall its faster.
But that was really bad.
(Would be interesting to see Gronholm and Loeb in car of the same stretch of the road--that was Col d' Turini and boy it IS NARROW.

RE BMW's and Turbo Volvols:

I have been scrating my head and thinking I might want to build a plane rather then a new rally car.

Sure the plane will cost a lot more (210 HP IO-390 motor is about $32,000 - that should get you all to stop thinking race motors cost too much!) but I can use it when ever I want not just a few weekends a year and it will be worth more then the parts when I am done. I have built sevral rally cars but no planes so a new challange could be fun.

The plane would also be faster and pull more g's in a turn. It is not always bad to be upside down in a plane either.

Ron Nelson did that after wrecking his Evo 3.5 years ago.
He's finally rebuilding it I hear though.
His hangar has both his rally cars and his plane though, with room to spare too.

But Derek, airplane racing is waaaaaay more expensive than car racing and you know you want to go racing. Plus crashing a car is much safer than crashing a plane. Come on, you know you want to embarass all the Subabishis in a RWD car! You'll get bored after a while doing loop-de-loops and barrel rolls...

What plane are you thinking of building ?

I remember the Mooney 201 (production though), was a decent plane back in the day.

Are they still made ?

All this plane talk takes me back to when I was 12, my brother 17 and he'd take me flying. Two kids in a plane practising stall's, and the 12 year old (me) being made to land at YVR.

Those were the days... when you could rent a Cessena 172 for $32 per hour including fuel.
