TSD car
March 17, 2016 01:21PM
While not bound for the stages... I just grabbed this car for some TSD fun. Looking forward to it... might be looking for some upgrade advice at some point.
The car has ipd lowering springs on it, so that is one of the first things that has to be changed. Not looking for full stage set-up yet and won't be doing towers in the back.
This seems to be a BC original true 242GT... which might mean something to someone.
Thanks to Eric E for the internet whispering on this one!

There are a bunch of small items I'm looking for, but if it is a GT, then definitely a good find.

Jeremy where is this car? I assume your talking about a 2 door down there and not the 4 doors. Its not in the online inventory so kinda curious.

Glad you got it Keith, hope it serves you well for the tsd(s). If you decide to let it go give me a shout before you list it, I might just take it off your hands.

You'll get first refusal on it if/when I sell it.

I've been driving it the past couple days and it feels good overall. Priority is to get rid of the IPD lowering springs and get stock or stiffer than stock.

John: Any thoughts on springs for maybe a bit of a lift and gravel road use while retaining streetability?
I don't want to go full out suspenders yet.

(Damnit... Don borrowed my laptop when he was at a meeting a while ago and logged in to Anarchy... now it defaults to his account... gotta change that back)

For springs, I'm a fan of MOOG CC217 springs in the rear. They are 155lbs/in, and are commonly referred to as "wagon overload springs". They match up pretty well with 200-225 lb/in springs in the front with Bilstein HD inserts.

I take it you have changed your mind on selling it after the tsd?! Future rally car?

Bugger, I had the old stock rear springs/ shocks off mine but they sat around way too long and pretty sure I tossed them. Depending on time frame the front stock springs may soon be available. Just depends on when I get around to getting the jvabs on the front.

The 'net' cost of insuring the car is $5/month. (Thanks to a second car discount and a change in how the Xterra is insured), and my wife suggested hanging on to it for a while. I'll probably do more TSDs with it over time.
I'm torn on the idea of caging it, mostly because it is a proper GT and probably in recoverable shape. The floors are solid, which means there is a solid shell to attach a cage to if I do end up going that route. But, we need more event organizers before I can even remotely think about caging a car.

Chit happens.
I was thinking of posting them on CVOC(?) forum and work a straight trade for the labor of the swap.

The volvo headrests were pretty much the same in all cars. Cream suggest not a GT or at least not one kept original.

What damper in the back? The one that's in their looks humorously small.

Thanks Paul,
Looks like I already have a line on 'overload' springs for front and rear already.
