"Of course, there is another way of going rallying, and that's to take part. This is very simple. You buy a car that costs thousands of pounds. You then have that car tweaked and prepared, which costs even more. And then you drive it at incredibly high speed into a tree."

Gotta love clarkson's humor. Can't say that I would disagree with him, and this is coming from one of those dim witted, subaru driving, rally enthusiast he is speaking of. The new cars are just not what the older ones were, but I am holding out hope that this car will be more competitive with the fords and puegots etc. Still boring to watch, but faster.

OMG, I AM going to shoot myself. I knew it was bad, but not THIS bad!!!!!!!
(previous owner of 4 Subarus and long time rally fan)

Maybe, i will just burn the jacket.

It was funny when Jeremy had a Prius destroyed, but this shot hit a little too close to home.

Just embrace being Tedneck.

I've got two big, heavy non-turbo Subie wagons, so I guess I don't fit the hooligan stereotype.

"Of course, there are intelligent Subaru drivers, but for the majority of them, there are only eight letters in the alphabet. WRX STIR and B."

Anyone catch that. Made me giggle.

Anders, get a cup of coffee.... Many years ago I owned an Exxon. After putting dual exhaust on a Nova one day the customer said " it's muffler magic " . That name stuck on the exhaust side of the business. I closed the Exxon, bought a bigger building and "Muffler Magic Auto Repair " was born. Eventually I sold that building and 4 houses, moved 20 miles to another town. Built new house and new shop and Magic Auto and Marine Repair ( current name ) was born . The rally/race car stuff disappeared for a while, replaced with boats.

So anyway over the years I, like many , have acquired several nick names , Mr.Magic ( lots of customers use that ) and Heymagic. That started with my brother-in-law calling me "Hey, Magic..."

The first forums I got involved with years ago, boating forums, no one used their real names ( the internet being such a dangerous place ) , so I've always used the "heymagic" for most forums.

Gene

Subaru rally cars suck. They are sooped up mommymobile grocery-getters. Throw enough money at them and they can win a rally. So what? So can a zillion other cars.

Return Subarus to what they were intended for: picking up the kids from little league, carrying groceries, and pseudo-ecological transportation.

"Then there’s the interior... It’s like a four-year-old has been let loose in there with a box of felt-tip pens."

LOL, that's funny shit. I really don't like the new 08's anyway.

So what I read there says they finally made it so good it sucks. Kinda like the WRC they finally made the cars handle so well they suck.

Years ago I took a clapped out VW rabbit I owned out for a drive on a special little bit or road I do not even tell my best friends about. I drove the piss out of that little thing and had a hell of a good time going about 35 MPH with elbows flailing, brakes smoking etc.

Drove the same road in the Legacy GT turbo a little bit ago, dead boring at 60 or 70 MPH could hardly tell this was once a fun road.... cars are too good.

In the long run reality always wins.
