some things are more important than others
January 25, 2008 12:02AM
Just had a conversation with my 16 yo daughter who lives in winnipeg with her mother. She was really pissed at me or actually hurt, abandoned cause I've spent the last 2 weeks prepping my car and havn't talked to her.
We gotta remember that cars are just sheetmetal, junk all of them. This rally thing is just selfish fun. There is no prize. There is no fame. But we put SO much time into our cars, even make the mistake of loving them when they should be hated. So you that have people who need you that don't give a rats ass about rally, take time away from it. Don't stress over a race car. Run when you can and run to have fun because there is no other reason.
So I'm not going to rallye pierce-neige and I'm not jelous of everyone else that IS going. I'll be in winnipeg with my daughter where I want to be.

These are very true words. "Family First" is why the wife and I quit rally for about 12 years. We decided raising our child was more important than rally at that time. I applaud your decision !

There you go. And this is from a man (and codriver wife) who got married in their driving suits right before the start of a rally.
