I was reading in a post Dave Clark said he was with you in the Olympus world rally in 1986?

Damn man, Respect... I was 5 years old playing with a yellow plastic toy Indy car at that time.

I mean I thought my Mazda GTX was old...

I guess I'm fishing for a little history lesson here... I wanna hear about the good old days of rallying... I mean..shit.. you've been at this a while, kick us young guys some knowledge ehh?

Old school, HA! He invented school!

That's right, John drove the last SAAB 96 ever to compete in a WRC rally, and my Opel was the last Ascona to ever compete in a WRC rally in that event (a little over a year before I owned it.) The homologations ran out on those cars at that event.

I'll have to dig out the picture of my Chevy Blazer (with flames painted on the hood) that was John's service vehicle on the 1986 Olympus, complete with spare tires and fenders strapped to the roof.

Should I even tell you guys how I first met John?

John is older than dirt.

How do you think he knows this much about Fords ? He designed the first Model A engine for Henry Ford, John calls him "Hank", he is rumored to have started rallying in 1700 AD driving a steam powered 2WD that used a Tea Kettle prototype engine. Then the pesky French Revolution came and he took some time off, something about him losing his head or something, I don't have the exact details. In the early 1900s he resurfaced in Russia, driving a Class4 Zil sideways and using Bolsheviks for corner workers.

Him and Dave Clark met at the AARP meetings, or that's my theory and I'm sticking to it.

As if I am much younger them smiling smiley
