And you say I write a lot..fuuuuuuuuck.
You do. And much of what you write is pointless bluster and/or noise.
Even then, do you really want to get into a word-count comparison?

Interpreting rules is simple..
Writing good rules is hard.
Agreed, except you forgot to include 'interpreting poorly written rules is extremely difficult'

Rules for event usually has words that there may be surprise weight checks and "if the vehicle is underweight at any time during the event its curtains--out, Du Nuff...excluded..
Pretty much what I said above.
Minimum weight speaks to eligibility.
What you're missing in your version is that exclusion REQUIRES a hearing that allows the team to present evidence. The only reason for a hearing, is if there is meant to be allowance for mitigating circumstances.

Simple principles-- Min weight not hard to suss. Underweight...unconditional.. easy..Out.
In principle, we agree on this.
But when extended to the rest of the rule book, that leads to things like sending people home for belts that are a day past their expiry date. Particularly in the amateur level of the sport, there needs to be some reasonable application of the rules. Doesn't there?

In all this nonsensical back and forth you touch on the crux of the issue. If Higgins got sent to the penalty box for this he will still be right back in line for the next race, since this is his living, so who gives a fuck about him, he's in it under almost all circumstances. We can all see that these calls are a lot harsher for the privateer hobbyist, and that's bullshit, they make the sport and a bum call for some Supastah is likely to cause people to say fuck that nonsense and move on to something else. Nobody tuning in to watch Higgins excell here when he doesn't elsewhere and Travis' draw is the likelihood that he's going to wad the ever living fuck out of the car.

Power means nothing if you cannot control it!

Yep, and since the sport in both Fortress Merikuh and Canada is 99.9% amateur a generally kinder, even looser attitude should prevail..

But

It almost seems to suggest itself though than when one entity comes in with multi+million dollar budget into this amateur arena, that is so diametrically opposite in spirit and presenting themselves as "professional" then a very strict position seems to be appropriate...

It is easy to forget, I guess, that not only are many of the teams amateurs, but almost without exception the organisers and stewards are also amateurs and volunteers.

Not at all easy to forget..why should it be? There is no time in history so far that it is easier to look and compare the cars, the prep, the driving and the organisation around the world....
And of course anybody brought up in the advertisement and hype drenched consumer capitalist society of the last 50 years must certainly be able to identify and reject HYPE and glitzy statements and claims...and see there is no correlation between claims and insinuations of "professionalism" and the reality of the scene in North America...

And that is not saying it's bad that everybody except Lance Smiths business is amateur..

Just that maybe those pretending could quit pretending so embarrassingly..
