An event was held this weekend in Perthshire, Scotland to mark 10 years since the loss of Colin McRae.
http://www.coltnesscarclub.com/ Thankfully the rain stopped for the day and there's now some footage beginning to appear on YT of the stages held in Craigvinean Forest at Dunkeld if anyone is interested. This is uphill by the way. It takes me a little over 20 minutes to mtb the 1000ft up this hill, it looks a lot easier, quicker and more fun in a car. As some of our loony southern neighbors appear to be doing their best to crash the pound it's probably getting evermore viable for those over the pond to fly and drive an event soon. John, do you want me to organise shipping this pile of parts? Disappointingly not yet a Jackass |

Have you got a pic of the exact forkin fork you're after? There were all sorts of Fordy gearboxes and parts including iirc 2 types of old 4 speed & 5 speed stuff getting sorted through last time I was there, so hopefully if there is a fork I'll be able to find it. If they are as rare as rockin horse poop why ain't a geezer like you fabbing some up or modifying a common as muck one? Disappointingly not yet a Jackass |

That's the thing, I don't know anything if they're rare of what..I think its one of those things that I wuz all concentrating on finding bellhousings and din't think of the fork, and for all I know I may have one, or the fork from a whatevr works..Thats why I wuz hoping your mate might be able to splain me what i need to have or hack..or if you is unique or rare...or what/ By the way..what's with the good weather? I've become confused cuase I thought it was like constant rain in wind in Scotland... Was that those invaders dooon Souf that forced you to be miserable? OK, at least he has the correct bellhousing that I can check the various arms in. There's probably forks from rocket, bullet, T9 and 4x4 MTX boxes in the mix to confuse me. It has to be said we did seem to collect an awful lot of stuff over the years... It'll be later in the week I'll get round to that. That dry day was a one off this "summer". It has pished doon since Saturday night. Heading off to work on some VWs for a couple of days in a modern unit till it dries up... Back to the rally cars. We were heading home and walked past the lined up cars as they waited on the last stage so had just a quick shifty at them. Noticed the new Hyundai (WRC?) front struts were angled trailing from the top down. Must google to see how they attach to the upright. Disappointingly not yet a Jackass |

For anyone interested it was actually a Hyundai i20 R5 I was looking at.
Found a pic of the strut angle in this article. http://www.revistascratch.com/wrc/noticia/hyundai-i20-r5-la-maquina-en-profundidad-34906 If you freeze frame at 24secs of this 3 min vid there's some strut / wheel weirdness going on. Disappointingly not yet a Jackass |

It just looks odd to me. Obviously it is designed that way to achieve an objective. I've no great interest in WRC stuff as it is so far out of reach to the common man. Am I close in guessing that to get near what looks like 350mm wheel travel the strut body goes down the rear of the upright past the cv hence it is angled trailing from the top mount when steering is straight. The wheel looks to move forward close to 100mm in the arch when steering is applied increasing wheelbase on the loaded side. Feck knows, these days I muck around on two wheels where I can go up and down more technical stuff than those WRC cars would ever manage. And I can do that for a few hundred bucks without wearing a hans and nomex underwear... In other news I had to pop in to my pal's garage for a flying visit and did manage a quick look through boxes of clutch forks and bellhousings. Couldn't find the correct fork you need but have a plan to check out a couple of potential donor forks when I go back later in the week to rebuild some Webers and fit them to the Escort. Seeing as photobucket is down and googling build threads for Cossie clutch forks pics has become difficult. I've heard if you use Chrome as a browser there is an extension that gets round the PB pics not showing. Disappointingly not yet a Jackass Edited 1 time(s). Hey thanks Danny I didn't know that extension was available. I just added it to my Chrome from here: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/photobucket-embed-fix/naolkcpnnlofnnghnmfegnfnflicjjgj?hl=en Then closed all my browsers and at least for now all the PB pics are back... ................................................. .....................
