Okay.... Now I'm really confused. Oh wait "colo" means co-location.

Sheesh.... My brain was having trouble figuring out how you
drove from Puyallup WA to Colorado in 3 hours.

Damn kids and their stupid "texting" speak crap... If I knew your
address I'd book a flight out there and slap ya :-)

Are you out in the boonies? Why have a co-located server that YOU
have to personally maintain so far away?

The server's in the Seattle area known as Ballard.

Skye used to live nearby, but he grew up longing to go further up into the Great White North and become

A LUMBERJACK!!
So now he's moved home to BC. Here's Skye in happier climes.

Thanks for fixing things Skye.

"colo" is definitely not texting-speak. It's jargon specific to the internet server administration crowd. Sort of how you use 'recce' to mean "Reconnaissance" in the rally world. That's always kind of made me wonder, why isn't 'recon' used instead of 'recce?" To me, the word 'recce' looks either French or one of those words people use to try to sound all cultured and sophisticated. I'm not sure which I dislike more...

I think that 'colo' is a much more intuitive abbreviation than the term 'recce'.

Wow, how's that for off-topic? I think my avoidance of caffeine is finally catching up to me...

Hmmmm... collocate becomes "colo" instead of "collo".

Interesting. I'm not a great speller, but why do people
find it necessary to screw up words intentionally?

I had no clue what colo meant.
Recce over recon because the origin of the term and part of competition is from overseas. That and recce sounds better, whereas recon sounds silly.
Ie.
'I'm going to go recce the stage.' vs.
'I gonna go an do me some recon on them there stages.'

Recce is from British Army jargon where 'reconnaissance" is abreviated with "RC"

Why would anybody know what "co-location" is?

"Texting speak"? computer industry speak.

And yes Jens, we have coloCATION in Canada, its just a lot more expensive. The few times I need to visit the servers in person, I just make the drive.

My main mail/DNS server has been up 672 days grinning smiley
