Post them photos up we were talking about.

These 505s are half Sierra, half 240 Volvo, you boys ought to see the stuff, so lets encourage Mr Bean to post some piccies so we can begin with the hacking and hewing.

Por quoi pas?

lol - great pic btw - but doesn't look like me much...

I was in the garage last night with the intentions of dimensioning the struts, and disassembling them so I could post it up - but it didn't take long to realize my garage was a disaster!

So I spent the evening cleaning a workspace up so that I can work on the struts more easily. I'll be posting pics up of the existing front suspension (1pc) as well as some pics of the newer 2pc ABS suspension from the newer 505's (damaged - and really rare up here though.) I also have a compete IRS hangin on the wall I can take pics of so you can see the similarities John mentioned.

I did post in Tim's new "offset thingies" post though with some thoughts on the new design.

The more I look into it - the 505's really take the good bits from the Volvo and the xratti and puts them into a clearly better package then either of the other cars... smiling smiley Kidding... mostly.

Alrighty - got some pictures to start this Peugeot thread off with:

sad pic of the car(s) in question - 86' 505 GL-Turbo (factory stripper built for SCCA competition in the 80's)

1pc strut mounted in car

view looking at the back of the strut (rear steer rack)

view looking at the suspension from the front

existing tire to strut clearance (6" wheel, 195-60-15 tire)

top view of the rear IRS

top view pic showing the torque tube mount on the diff. (motor, tranny, and diff are rigidly mounted together)

side view of rear suspension sub frame

For reference - here's the newer 2pc strut front suspension

close up of the back of 2pc strut

That should give you a quick idea of the suspension I'm working with. Current issues are that the factory alloys are very soft and not suitable for rally. They're also too narrow for decent tarmac performance, The 2pc strut has a little less strut tire clearance, and is really rare where I live as it was only offered on 88' and 89' Peugeot's. The lower 1pc a-arm seems like a nicer set up, but they are wider than the older a-arm - so using the 1pc strut with them would give some crazy camber... (But might be perfect with the offset thingies)

Lots of info - so ask away if you have any questions. I'll disassemble and dimension the strut hopefully tonight.

Rabin
