Just asking any one hurd of a electric rally car
April 23, 2008 03:01AM
just asking im a green fan even with my big blocks siting out side but i love the
idea of electric powered cars iv seen rock buggy's and some sweet cars like the
tesela and some other dragsters. Seems there has bin some major gains on batters
these days and seen places where you can order cell phone battery and make liquid
cooled battery boards that you can charge in around 30 min and run your car for 200
miles but a juiced up car would cut that way down. i saw a street bike that was
smoking up the drag strip with a cell phone battery box. So like a awd light weight
shell like a older golf dose anyone think this would be effective i mean most are one
speed or 2 and the torque curve is intense. Just wondering if anyone else has
thought of this and if anyone has tried, im not looking to contest any one or thing
just honesty if people think the potential of a car like that being built and how it
would function on a stage rally? Thanks

pop mechanics has a prototype that's being worked.

4wd with no transmission. Each wheel contains a motor - rip a corner off - keep going.

the hard part they're dealing with is synchronizing the speeds of the wheels - but that should be only a matter of software.

No LSD's - just software controling which wheel gets power.

Seems like that would be pretty dang competitive - now if the battery technology could become feather light and last forever

Porsche figured it out 110ish years ago, how hard can it be?

ya thats what im saying id rather run one big motor in the center of the car i think
it could be done to be vary competitive. did anyone see the show who killed the
electric car? they where talking about swapping new battery's and they got 200 miles
and more power.
