Anouncing: NW CCCP JVAB MAX ATTACK FUND!

Howdy in the spirit of the NW 2WD prize fund started (and lost) by the Burress Bros. I would like to start a fund to get John Vanlandingham entered in the MaxAttack event at the Oregon Trail Rally in one month.

I'd like to start it off by offering $66 towards the entry fee, 3hrs of young strong man help pre-event, and a hotel room in Hilsboro for him.

I'm also going to encourage co-driver to crusty men, Jason Grahn, to guide him through the controls, and show him the stage notes.

I'd really like to but I have heard from impeccable sources that Rally America considers me somebody worthy of referring to, "That fucking asshole Vanlandingham"

Now when the COO of a supossedly "professional" organisation speaks of me that way to random people* it seems that that means that they presume or believe their view, that I'm a fucking asshole, is widely and universally held.

Now combining that with reading the email sent to my friend Mustafa "the Savage Turk" where the Chief Technical doood because of confusion over RA misreading of the same wording on fuel cells since '71, the RA Tech dood, threatens "To do everything I can to make sure you never start another rally anywhere in USA" or some such BS,

I am very VERY LEEERY of making a bunch of effort when we know these un-professional, vindictive, and obviously angry individuals are going to be there.


But the car does go well!!!
And I'd love to do it.


*this random person the COO was speaking with has been friends with me since my 4th or 5th rally back in 1986, and I helped him get in the woods in turn, and he's co-driven with me a number of times.
Really unprofessional to speak so unguardedly to people who you don't know who their friends are.

It costs too much to rally. I don't see how RA is doing anything to help that situation.

I've been witness to some of these self-important scrutineering rally types myself, and I always have to wonder why, when this is a primarily ameutuer driven sport, and everyone working is doing so VOLUNTARILY that people need to take themselves oh so seriously. I seriously believe that some get involved because they are confrontational by nature and having limited friends they VOLUNTEER so as to be in a position where guys HAVE to listen to them OR ELSE. I feel sorry for them because it's so obvious how unhappy some of these guys are. I hope you get out there soon. Having been doing some testing days recently, I know how driving again after a long break really gets the juices flowing.

He didn't threaten me because of the fuel cell shit. He threatened me 3 years prior to that incident, when I complained about (or flamed) some dimwitt first (and last) time volunteer who found it more amusing or important to tell me that the car in front of me jumped the start instead of telling me that they have moved a disabled car from the left side of a "L4 long >3-" to the right side of the same corner. As a result I rolled my car, broke a tooth, broke my navvie's hand, got a corner named after me and had to spend cubic Dollars to put the damn car together.

Just setting the record straight.

Now back to topic. Get yer fuzzy arse out there and rally !!!
