No Alibi Rally 2008
Scenery

The ninth annual No Alibi rally is conducted by Rainier Auto Sports Club following a tradition established by Rainier over 40 years ago. At the core, that tradition dictates a long-distance tour, lightly traveled scenic backroads, a challenge of precision driving and navigational skill and a social gathering of friendly people.

No Alibi 2008 is a two-day, 550 mile tour of Eastern Washington on some of the best gravel backroads and some great paved ones as well. It begins and ends in Ellensburg, Washington and will overnight in Kennewick, Washington. These two endpoints are closer together than prior years, giving us a shorter drive but more time to devote to competitive TSD sections. The course will use all types of roads from highways to gravel to dusty farm roads, however No Alibi roads are selected for their character and are not of the car-breaking variety. No Alibi typically enjoys beautiful early-summer weather and presents a peek at the green and growing season.

Our selection of roads and scenery are designed to please but we will also be plying you with a lunch on Saturday that aims to keep even the hungriest among you happy. Following tradition (or habit) Saturday night will feature our usual social gathering including a buffet dinner and some yet to be determined rally-centric entertainment. The buffet dinner and entertainment, as well as Saturday lunch are included in your entry fee. Our event is intended to challenge the experienced competitor but is completely suitable for novice or lightly seasoned entrants.

This looks great! Its super close to my hometown, Crakima! But at their website I see pics from last year of cars with no cages that look like they are competing. I'm sure I'm missing something...

Dazed Driver, Slowpoke,
Go read the rules for this rally. I fully agree with John that it looks like a great deal of fun and it is good practice for stage rally. However, it is not a high speed rally where you can drive as fast as possible. The roads are not closed to traffic meaning there could be a cattle truck coming the other way. When the organizers say it is a challanging rally, they mean that it will be difficult to maintain the average speed that they have set. At least I hope that is what they mean and not that this rally will be like some SCCA TSD rallies where the challange is to figure out the logic or lack thereof about where the main road goes.

Richard is right. For once.
All you guys, it's this kind of event (well sorta, I personally HATE that they bake into the entry with no "Opt out" the fancy lunch and fancy dinner. I know those are "profit centers" and the entry could no doubt be a LOT lower without those) that I've said are HOURS of fun and easy going PRACTICE, MORE THAN A SEASON woth of driving at 8/10th and navigating etc without the massively grotesque $1000 entry of a Stage rally so if you trying to finger out how to drive to instructions, how to navigate TRANSITS----- which I have seen way too much stupidity on when beginners get lost and start SPEEDING AROUND to make their "In time"--- all with beautiful scenery and relaxed pressure.

Coast to Coast and Thunderbird are others that you poseur Stage boys should put on the calender.

The giggle to dollar ratio of these types of TSD events is quite high. I personally cannot wait for POR this year.

When I was 17 I moved accross the ocean, immigrated to another country to do motorsports.

And made it as permanent as anywhere I had been when I moved back at 19.
And 23
And 27

yeah, I've considered moving to Seattle actually. I think I mentioned to you my best friend is up there. I also know a cute redhead with very long legs up there smiling smiley

I wish this event was later in the year and not a month away, i'd consider flying up and renting a......Outback!? gasp!

My driver bailed on me for the ALCAN5000 this year (i was going to co-drive), so I'm planning on driving the summer ALCAN in 2010.

God damn that looks fun. It is on the calendar. The question is, will i have new spenders for it? huh huh? eh Johnny

Spose i should get those charging issues figured out as well. a bank of 10 deep cells in the trunk would do wonders for traction though.
