3 cars to bring from California to the North East
May 06, 2008 10:29AM
Ok it seems that transport brokers are all scammers and don't want to help anyone except to have their money.

I now have 3 volvos I would like to bring from California to Champlain NY.

One is in Mountain view, one in Sacramento and the last one is in Elk Grove.

The 3 of them are in working order.

Anybody can help me? Jonh, I never got the price from the transporter you found. Maybe if you have time you could give them a call?

I seriously consider buying the MotherShip just to bring them back here and then sell it. Or maybe I could make a habbit of bringing West coast's volvos to the East cost for my vacations! LOL Anybody in the East Coast would be interested in buying it if I would bring it accross the country?

Whoa incredible. If you're saying they're drivable I can drive one across country for you. I'm going that way.

I'm planning on going to Niagra, NYC and Boston this summer, then back to my folks house in Maryland to pick a up a Camry and drive it back to California.

Just throwing that out there.

That sounds like a way to get them out!
Get off season out of work clollege students/rallyists and drive them all.

'Course John Lane's truck could haul one in side, one hanging half out and one on a trailer.

Driving could only work for one of them...

One is not titled because it was totaled for a stupid ding in the door and the other one is a Canadian car a friend tried to register in California for about 5 years but he couldn't

So there is only the 242 GT that could be driven to here... but the title has been signed already so I'm not sure if it is still possible.

Doesn't matter if the title is signed. As long as the registration is current and you have insurance it's good to go.

Remember most states don't cross over Police and DMV systems. Neighboring states do sometimes, but RARELY. If it's got tags, a current sticker, a Reg card and insurance. It'll be fine.

Some guys I know got a temporary sticker from the DMV in cali and drove it across country on that.

hmmm I still have 3 whole weeks I can take off work...

Road trip from West to East sounds good! I never went to California, that could be one hell of a fun trip! as long as the car don't break!

I wouldnt be too sure about info crossing amongs states. After 9-11 they are a whole lot tougher on dmv records. I would beware
In fact i got pulled over in Ohio in 2002, and was put in the back of the cruiser until my license was cleared OK over the radio. The information was requested from NYS which is where i am from.

I can't drive anything across country, but if you need a hand with the one in Mountain View I can help with that. Check it out, pick it up, store it for awhile, move it to a transport carrier, etc.

It's kind of a busy time for me as I'm competing in two events this month and putting on one in Nevada next month, but anything to help a fellow rallyist.

That's interesting....technically I think I have a warrant out for my arrest in san jose, CA for not going to court over a ticket (long story)....anyway, I've been pulled over about 3-4 times (in Cali) since then and every time I think its going to bite me in the ass and it never does. maybe it disappeared in 'the system', but who knows.

I did have a some old DMV ticket/fee follow me from Vermont to CA when i tried to get my CA license. What's weird is I already had a PA license from being at Penn State for 2 years (they didn't care, or they don't talk to VT). It was like 10 yrs old, but CA had it on their record (this was pre-9/11) and wouldn't give me a license until I paid it.

random. I'm surprised there's not a website that tells you who talks to who.

My license was suspended in NYS for that ticket in Ohio eventhough i did pay for it and was not suspended in Ohio. Until I had a letter faxed over from Ohio to Albany they did not do anything to assess the situation nor did they give me a license. During those several years I was unaware of being falsely suspended and have been pulled over (but never ticketed) or ran into check points in NY and nothing showed up. Go figure???
NYS is horrible with updating there DMV records. My Rally car was titled "white" on the NJ title when i bought it but the new title shows "burgundy"? The funny thing is that the car was white and in ny before that as well.

So, if you are going to travel across the country driving i would make sure the license situation is clear unless you want to get stuck in town bumble fawk for a few nights. I wouldnt take that chance if i were you!

Easiest way to avoid that whole mess is to not get pulled over.
Its not that hard...

Thanks for the input!

I think I'll just wait a bit more and see if the broker can find a transporter. It's only been a week so I need to be more patient.

The one in Mountain view is not for sale, it's my friend's car and he want to bring it back to Canada since he's not able to register it in California.
