Yup, on an event-by-event basis. If the organizer wants 'em, they can allow 'em. There's a little extra work to do (a different route book to put together and some pointer arrows on stage) so it's the organizer's choice.

The bikes essentially have to be legal, registered, insured, four-stroke dual-sport bikes. Safety gear is a helmet, MX boots, chest/spine protector, a triangle, and a first aid kit.

Yeah, let's get JVL out there on what I'm sure he'll refer to as "a big fat pig of a bike, completely unsuitable for dirt" or whatever. *grin* I'm in for $50 on the JVLOABPOABANN (JVL On A Big Pig Of A Bike At North Nevada) program. smiling smiley

Cheers,
Anders

To contrast the exposure opportunity:

SS.com:
Most users ever online was 373, 03-17-2008 at 11:40 PM.
Threads: 28,825, Posts: 247,017, Members: 3,563, Active Members: 761

ADVrider:
Most insanity ever was 4,054 online, 05-07-2008 at 09:56 PM.
Threads: 278,644, Oddometer: 6,506,558, Inmates: 69,277

So, about 10 times the daily interest, 24 times the discussion, and 20 times the members. The original Sandblast Rally bike competitors were probably 95% ADVrider members.

Cheers,
Anders

Anders,

I see the threads on AVRider and will post as soon as they activate my registration on that forum. Thanks for both pointing that out and doing
the ol' Rah-Rah there for us!

I need to talk to you some about details of what the RallyMoto riders will
expect and require. I'll get on the horn to you after I get back from Oregon
Trail.

No problem. I enjoy helping other NRS events along. And it's nice for events to actually get some help that leads to more entries. smiling smiley

Ha! Yes, it's true, you probably have a much lower member number over there than I do. At least my nasioc number is under 100,000. winking smiley

I have a BMW K75 in the garage as of 3 days ago - I found a web site where someone turns one into a GS (dual sport) sounds kinda fun...

Since I have the princely sum of $1500 into this thing I might do it. Then again it might cost less to just buy a KTM.

Lots of Motard type bikes for around $5000 to $6000 but I thoguht I would try it out for less cash to start.

In the long run reality always wins.
