RA, NASA, CARS? If they require a membership as well, how much for the membership? Also, who accepts who else's licenses?

Thanks!!!

Hehe, John, meu amigo, you're quick, I took the disclaimer out of the ss.com post as well right after I posted the question. I realized I didn't really care. smiling smiley

I've been fine, just busy. I'm thinking about giving co-driving a try.

How are you?

Thanks turoc. Someone on SS.com posted links to all the rules pages, so I looked it up and it looks like RA is $100, and CARS is $164(CDN), but I realize now that there's really no easy way to just get one license that covers everyone.

Alas, that is a fact.

But I do have a question and that is how can NASA charge a membership fee when I don't ever recall them becoming a club or other type of organization that has memberships? But to get an answer, I shall go ask on the NASA forums. And by the way, Rally America is not an organization that has memberships at all. CARS I don't know about either.

From the "Membership Benefits" section of the NASA home page:

Membership in the National Auto Sport Association will make you part of a large family of motorsports enthusiasts and will provide you many benefits such as being able to participate in NASA events across the county, free admission to most NASA events, and participation in other programs available to our members. Since our newsletter SpeedNews is printed in Grassroots Motorsports, you will also receive a complimentary year-long subscription with your NASA membership ($19.95 value). Grassroots Motorsports is sent 8 times per year and features racing coverage of all sorts along with other content of interest to enthusiasts such as yourself.

The following companies, among others, support NASA members with special discounts and programs......

Nothing about being able to vote on rules or any thing else.

I know, weird, right? winking smiley Similarly, when you buy a membership to "Sams Club", why don't you get to vote on prices? And when you're a "AAA member", how come you don't get to vote on the color of the tow trucks? And the members of Congress, I've never been able to figure out where the "club" is in that. smiling smileyThey sure do have voting though, and look at all the good stuff they do with it! *grin* And the Columbia House DVD Club, which is a fine deal at 7 cds for only 49 cents, act now!, they call it a club, but wait, where's the tree house you climb up in to when you need to defend yourself against pirates???? (Ha! that came out funnier than I thought... pirates... dvds...)

Ahhhh, boy... now, why is my printer blinking at me? It's such an attention whore. "Give me paper! Give me toner!" Oh yeah, MFC-8440? What have you done for ME lately?!!!

That's because a whole bunch of lemming-like morons believed the
charlatans in charge, bought into the "membership is for insurance
purposes" crap, and generally bent over and let the sanctioning
bodies and organizers do the nasty into them.

Back in the "good ol' days" (and, yes, Wilbur they were good days)
licenses were inexpensive, memberships were not required, and rally
was rally.

New World Order of U.S. rally bought out your souls for a little
glitz. I say, burn them at the stake!

But Jens the NWO rally group is the one that doen't have a membership. And the group that decided performance rally (and it would seem recently even TSD) is the work of the devil, now requires membership for any thing.

Good points Anders. Membership is a marketing thing. NHRA has memberships too. Builds a sense of belonging. For what it's worth, Armadillo Rally Logistics is the corporation that puts on Rallye de Paris. It allows voting membership but no one has to belong. And we like it that way as Juanita and I are the only voting members. That way we get our way. smiling smiley

And by the way, marketing is a good thing.

$100 for a license/membership is nothing these days. Can't fill my gas tank for that. I'll guarantee that neither NRS or RA is getting rich off the license collections. Licenses have to be kept track of, printed, mailed, renewals sent out and so on. NRS even gives a great magazine subsrciption with membership. Just isn't any evidence of a NWO conspiracy that I can see.

Anders, AAA is somewhat of a bad example, because the members do vote on stuff.

CARS fee is for an ASN Competition licence. Nothing about membership AFAIK.
