The worst thing about them is the mic is covered by the case. The suction cup and sticky taped held up on a hill climb and we were able to move the cameras around quite a bit. Here's some example footage.
I think Checkpoint sells them for less the $180. That's where we bought ours.

That's what we used at STPR. Great quality video, but the sound levels are either too high or too low. I'm thinking about drilling the case for in-car usage so that the mic gets more input at the low level.

Hey that's not bad. Of course I'd like to have hidef and all, but really it ain't a big priority to spend big bucks on this stuff.

what's your definition of big bucks?

just a bit more expensive, but comes with separate mic leads (one for L, and one for R) that you can put almost anywhere in the car. Camera is pretty solid and protected, and the mount will go pretty much anywhere that's flat.

the only downside is this is the camera only, you still need a recorder of some kind.

I ended up getting mine used off craigslist for $100 off, you might be able to find one on ebay.

If you want something that you still have to record onto, just get a Supercircuits lipstick cam and a Sony D8 camera. I used a TRV310 and a lipstick cam and a $15 mic for a few years. It worked fine.

Some tips. Get really good batteries and extra memory cards. We're looking into a method to run it off of something other than AAA so we get more life.
