Lost another hero
July 11, 2008 07:53PM
I just recieved a call that Nick Moore just passed on. Felt ill went to hospital, an didn't make it. Likely heart.

I'm sure the old guys here will remember him. He was a short, firey little Brit with a giant wit and wild sense of humor. He was godlike to many young ralliests back in the day. Nick was one on the original pioneers in the Oregon rally scene and competed in the FIA Olympus in a GpN Toyota FX16. I caged the car when it was brand new for him. He had the great accent, and a boatload of stories. I think I have a trophy downstairs that was made from a melted piston from his old Honda rally car. A true character in every good sense of the word. I saw him last a couple years ago at Olympus. He was looking to buy back the old Toyota rally car, which I had bought from him and returned to street duty. Like all old rally guys he dreamt of coming back. He would have been an oustanding Rally Anarchist and MaxAttack guy.

Nick was a good guy that could peddle a rally car pretty fast, and always fun to talk with -- We'll miss him!

As always IMHO

Ah crap. Really? Nick the Brit has passed? A damn fine driver and a better dinner conversationalist. He will be missed.

We, online, seem to know him as Nick the Brit, but when I called and told my mother, she called him by another name

Nick the Wick

He will be missed. I always looked forward to his stories and very much enjoyed him being my stage captian all three days at OTR this year.

Not to be confused with me...but sad to lose a fellow Brit rallyist whom I never got the opportunity to meet.
