Just in case anyone reading this didn't realize... Rally Anarchy forum is up. smiling smiley

Anyone built anything lately? Taken some gravel road excursions? Been to a far off event? Seen some cool new gear? Got some travel plans?

Cheers,
Anders

Well, I have a '99 2.5 rs that could be had pretty cheap, or we might build a car for the new proposed AWD NA ( Zimmer) class. Haven't decided yet.

Say, if you're from NC how come you don't talk funny winking smiley ???

I'm not FROM North Carolina, I just live here now. I'm FROM Sweden (which again begs the question of how come I don't talk funny) but I learned to speak and grew up in Maine (again, how come I don't talk funny?).

I think the answer is my father is Australian, so we had "proper English" spoken in the house. winking smiley

Anders,
Since you asked, I will share:
-Rebuilt/re-valved the Bilsteins. DMS will be rebuilt next.
-Started building the stroker motor.
-Leaving for 6 weeks(Europe). I am working with a test engineer who tarmac rallies a FWD 205 Rallye in Spain and we may go to an event there. Trying to see if there will be a rally I can spectate in Croatia(my last stop). I already checked and nothing is going on close to Stockholm the 2 days I will be there.
-Have been working on my autocross car-really good stuff happening there, but nobody cares here for that.

Anybody else getting ready for next season?

George

Anders,
I think you talk funny. :-)

I have been sick with a head cold all week. I haven't done anything on the rally car. I am going to freeze to death running a 100 lap "endurance" gokart race tomorrow.

Looking forward to another snowy Rally of the Tall Pines.

They apparently do a 24 hour go kart race at one of the tracks here.

> Anybody else getting ready for next season?

About a year ago I found a VW 16v 2L engine sitting in front of a B3 Passat at pic-a-part and took it home. I currently have a 16v 1.8L engine (the earlier 16v engine offered for mk2 VWs). The plan is to get the 2.0 block in the car before I rally next.

I spent a lot of time researching whether it was worth using the 9A parts along with an ABA block to build the mythical ABF engine which was a 16v motor offered in Europe but not offered here. After deciding that the trouble wasn't going to be worth it for how I was going to run the motor I decided just to build the 9A.

Next week I take the short block to the engine builder to get it cleaned and inspected. I'm hoping I can get away with a minimal rebuild. The CRS2 and NASA Gp2 rules limit what I can do in regards to boring it.

The plan is to use my 1.8L head which has been worked and flows nicely. I picked up a 50mm intake manifold (from Sweden no less!) and will be fitting that on the car along with some sport cams. I've been running stock cams all along in that car.

Oh, and I also finally took the HAM test so that I can run my APRS system in the car under my license instead of my navie's.

Attended a meeting of the 100AW committee and we were presented with a proposed course. BTW, anyone, when is Sandblast?
