Olympus - Historics?

Rally Drum say:

"Historic class is on the list to talk about at the Olympus meeting Wed. night will let you know asap.......Steve (McQuaid)"

Topics may include Historic Class designation/qual's, Senior Discounts for Historic Cars, and historic entries from prior 1980's Olympus Rallys.

(I love it when a good rumor starts coming together!)

Olympus - Historic Update
March 29, 2006 09:40AM
Here's the latest on discounts for Historic enties at Olympus according to Gene McCullough, Olympus Chief Scrutineer:

"If we have 5 H cars show up there will be awards for the class."

"Even better..if any H class legal car enters there will be a conditional discount. Conditions : must be H compliant ( 25 years old ), must either be a new build or an old build that hasn't competed in the last 5 years. We want someone to actually dust off the old rally car and show up instead of watching. Must be clean, free of major body damage and no primer. Olympus Rally will give a $100 discount for eligible entries."

It's also important to know that any RallyCar with a previously issued log book has an excellent chance of meeting the NASA and RA mainhoop cage tubing requirements. (Base plate, gussett and side-bar updates might still be needed.)Just call Gene if you need clarification, but these guys will do everything they can to get dormant rallycars back on the stages.

I just spoke with Dick Fuhrmen (Sp?) down in Moscow, ID, the day before. He ran in 85' and 86'. He says he'd like to try a motorcycle this time. Crazy!

JV--

GET OUT THE 96!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wasn't it the last 96 to run as a homololololologinated car in the last possible event for it (Olympus waaaaaaaaay back then)? Definitely qualifies!

Oh, finally got the left rear to free up on the green car, but something inside the drum broke in the process. Plan to complete the rescue mission on Monday.

Didn't need to remove the drum. The wheel turns. The car runs. I'm going to drive down Monday about 1pm, park on the street across from the house, put the last wheel on (put the spare on, and took the two Michelin XZX's in the metal shed to replace the rotted NR09s), drive the car across the street sans brakes and up onto the trailer. Then I'll bring it up to NH for further investigation. A lot of the rust bubbles have become holes.

But the engine fired up pretty quick for having sat for nearly two years! It would have been quicker had the choke lever not been frozen.
