Happy shortest day of the year

Way back when rallyst were not panzyassed wimps we would celibrate a day like this where we could show off our manliness by installing huge lights with millions of candle power on the car and go out and blast down dark roads.

I remember a nice stretch of West Lake Sammamish Blvd. where when you crested a little rise the lights pointed at the street lights and a whole line of them would turn off, since we had the equivelent of a small town worth of watts bolted to the front bumper.

What you forgot to take the covers off, no problem they meleted off fairly quick. Also I lived in hope that some dumb ass would forget to dim his highbeams. The hand sat hair trigger on the swtich as they approched - just a bit farther is that 4 rounds I see? Yes it is, your retnias are going to melt sucker!

Yeah what happened to night stages? When was the last night stage run in the NW? Some sort of problem with insurance, or unhappy volunteers, or lack of chutzpah or what?

I used the lights on Oregon Trail 2003 but I could have driven with out... If I was farther back in the pack I would have been in real dark.

My last true real night stage was 2002 Mt Trails in Canada.

Oregon is likely to have dark stages again now that it is in April not June and I DNF'ed this year jsut before the night stages so we still have them.

Burning offenders Retinas is that much more fun with HID lights as I have for the Volvo. 'Tis been several years since they have been used in anger..... We are indeed overdue for a night event.

Happy Solstice everyone.

Merry Christmas too.
