I guess rallying is not about who sponsors who or who buys what seat.

Congrats to ACP for a very smart bit of driving. Well deserved.

I thought ACP would win this. It was long overdue and nice to see it come to be.

In the long run reality always wins.

No mention in the article on special stage of the winner, just praise to the Subaru team for 2nd and 4th! What gives?

Here is a scenario.

You own a forum.

You codrive for a fctory team.

You just got your ass handed to you by a privateer.

You commited to your sponsor to publish on your personal forum a praise after each rally.

So you take the article written by your sponsors PR department and put it up.

You know nobody will raise an eyebrow, even if they did you'd erase them anyways.

Disclaimer;
Above scenario is fictional, any similarities with actual events or people is coincidential.

Oh come on. Don't you know that the masses don't care about the privateers, they just want to read about the big-time big-names?

At least, that's the take the import ragazines have, when they tell us all about the incredible times X racer had with his super shiny new-chassis megabling ride, and not mentioning that he was 3rd place, losing to a couple guys running beat-up old Starlets out of their garage with spare beer money...

For my first post here I would also like to congratulate ACP on well deserved win.

As for the SS article I figure some one is allready trying to Kiss Subaru's ass, as don't you know they are going to save rally in NA again.... Oh wait they didn't save it the first time...Hmmm...

It's interesting to see how many non-americans have won this event in the last decade, it's not like it snows THAT much up here...

I don't own any forums. I've been asked to moderate the SS.com forums (only) to increase the signal to noise ratio. It's my hope that as the noise increases here, the need to moderate strictly on SS.com is reduced. SS.com is owned and managed by George Plsek and Jeff Burmeister, and the articles and PR section is handled by Ben Bradley. Forums are moderated by Ben, Jim Konkler, and me.

Ben posts all the PRs we receive. Once he receives a PR from Andrew, he'll post it. How Subaru writes their press releases, perhaps you can discuss with Chris Yandell.

I personally congratulated Andrew as soon as I got out of the car, and he asked me if I remembered when we were in the lead by 45 seconds and blew the motor 6km from the end of the last stage at Voyageurs 2002.

You know Mustafa, I liked you before joining this forum, and any moderation I did was only to keep SS.com within the limits of the user agreement. In fact, I remember an email from you on October 13, 2005 praising me for my even-handed approach. I'm sad to learn after all that my fondness wasn't shared.

Christian, please don't like me. I don't want to be liked. I want everubody treated fair and square. I have nothing to gain from you liking me, nothing to lose from you disliking me. I may be the biggest asshole but I am the fairest asshole and I don't talk out of my ass.

Your lies, insinuations, and misrepresentations in the prior post would suggest the opposite.

My lies ?

Now you are seriously bordering insulting.
If you don't like me, I can live with it, if you call me a jerk, that's fine, but when you call me a liar we will have a problem. So put your money where your mouth is and tell me when the fuck you heard me lie.

And to be fair and polite to ACP, by all means open a new topic or call me direct at 602 332 6411. Here we are congratulating ACP's privateer victory.

Sure. To wit, I've quoted your prior post:

> You own a forum.

I've demonstrably proven this is false. I'll attribute this misstatement to ignorance and not malice.

> You commited to your sponsor to publish on your
> personal forum a praise after each rally.

Lies. I've made no such commitment. In fact, if you look at my long history of posts, you'll see that my long-term view of manufacturer involvement in sport is quite balanced, and that I consistently voice the opinion that the sport must primarily meet the needs of the individual competitor, who provides the bulk of the revenue to organizers and sanctioning bodies.

> So you take the article written by your sponsors
> PR department and put it up.

Again, lies. You assume I have something to do with placing the articles on SS.com. Again, you are wrong. And again, as I predicted, Ben has put up a new PR from Rally America, which does reference ACP.

> You know nobody will raise an eyebrow, even if
> they did you'd erase them anyways.

Again, lies and insinuation. The only posts ever removed or edited from SS.com by me have been for personal ad hominem attacks and commercial content in violation of the forum rules. I've never edited or removed a single comment about SRT-USA or any other team I'm affiliated with. In fact, if you actually read carefully, you'd recognize that I even shy away from responding to such posts.

> And to be fair and polite to ACP, by all means

I've already congratulated ACP in person, and on Specialstage.com and NASIOC. Given that you brought up my responsibilities on Specialstage.com and my personal involvement with specific teams, I'll not stand idly by. Andrew is my friend, I'm sure he'll give me any latitude. And don't try to pretend this somehow impugns Andrew's achievement. After all, you're the one who brought up other teams and individuals in the first place. The least you can do is stand proudly by your lies, since I doubt an apology is forthcoming.

ACP's win is front page on SS.com now, guess you can't fault Christian for Subaru putting their PR out first...
