RIM / Gorman Permits yanked
December 15, 2006 08:00PM
Now we can all go thank the asshole who pissed off the USFS whilst organising his TWO FUCKING BIT excuse for a rally.

Of course I can not pass RA asswipes who were lobbying against NASA and RIM/Gorman/Lauglin organisers in the West to get a strong hold of all the West Coast rallies. THANK YOU FUCKING MUCH !

Conspiracy theory ??? Hardly. See if RA will apply for the same permit in 08 or not.

How about Subaru USA asking Subaru West Coast to stop supporting non RA events ?? Figment of my imagination ??? Try me.

P.S. I was gonna use the RA membership application and request to input all my info online as toilet paper but I didn't find it assworthy, instead I used it to start my fireplace.

In all honesty Moose, afaik, the one you speak of never really spoke much with the issuers of the Foresty permits. It was usually left to Paula due to the good relationship she has with them.

As for the other stuff... I dunno.

Unfortunatly he did, apparently more than enough. He is not the reason, he is a contributing factor.

Mustafa,

I don't think Gorman is affected; the Gorman roads are all within the Hungry Valley Off Road Vehicle Park, which is a California State Park, not a part of the National Forest Service.

Gorman is affected. Only Powerline and Noth Boundary are PARTIALLY on the ORV Park. There is time to figure out alternatives for Gorman. Rim is 4 months away.

If Ray and the Gorman crew could get us some more of the roads used for X Games that would be great. The road that goes straight on instead of left thru the gate (and then over the big jump) on North Boundary was really nice, albeit rough. The first few miles past that gate especially were flowing and twisty. With a little clearup that stage could be sweet. The big loop around the campsite area too would be great, although with so many inroads it would take lot of blockages.

The problem with the ORV park is that there're dozens and dozens of side trails and roads, and it's really really REALLY hard to secure them all.

I'm not sure, but I think ESPN shut down the whole park for the X-Games. It certainly was pretty empty. But they have a lot of money and they ran their event on midweek, on a Wednesday. To be able to expect a rally organizer to do that on a weekend is asking for a lot.

That being said, that horseshoe-shaped road that they used in the X-Games was pretty fun, especially the "oh shit, I hope there's a road up there" rocketship-blastoff hill.

Oh yeah, Christian:

Gorman traditionally uses the ORV park for its morning/afternoon stages, and then moves out Maxwell/Liebre for the evening ones. The year you and Alex drove it, those roads were washed out, so it was all in the park. Didn't you do the whole event with Malik a few years ago though?

Yes, but every time I've done it, it's been ORV-park only. I know that Maxwell and Liebre used to be part of it, but I thought that was already in the past.

Damn Moose - you need to burn a Welsh flag or something.
At least you're not bottling up that anger. :p

More and more I'm thinking that getting a closed venue rally is the way to go. You find Joe Millionaire with 60 acres in the mountains and you get him hooked on rally or you offer to give him the blow-job that we've been giving the tree huggers for the last 20 years.

Closed roads. Spectators. 4 - 5 stages that we control (or build). 4 or 5 configurations so it's not THE SAME every time. 100+ miles of stage time with one service park. Done.

If we counted up all the man hours and money / time / effort on closing public roads - this should be a snap.
Road racing used to be on open roads too.
Unless the WHOLE city is behind you closing the roads and you're going to bring STUPID money to the town - they won't go for it.

Bah!

See my note about the just closed coal mine in Washington State, 70,000 acres with good looking roads (from the air)...

Mexico and Canada are looking more likely venues for "US" events.

I wonder if Oregon Trail on USFS land is next?

First off, it sucks that the Rim roads got pulled. This was the year (out of the last 5) we were actually going to be able to make it down.

Secondly, Derek,

I think that all of the OT roads are either state or or county roads, so we should be OK.

As far as your "spot" goes, who can fund it? Find the out whoever the "MAN" is, and let's get testing and rallying..smiling smiley

It's great idea, but someone needs to buck up to get it done. 70,000 acres is plenty large enough to have a good sized event on.

Let the newbie hazing begin..grinning smiley It's about time I joined the fun over here...

Well, for starters, it looks like you either didn't read the rules or felt like you're above the law or something. We're demoting you to C+ for not putting the following in your profile like ya'sposed to.

1. Full (Real) Name
2. City and State/Province
3. Car(s) you rally (we don't give a rat's ass about your street/track cars)
4. Year of birth

Biatch. tongue sticking out smiley
