This would be great. I think many NW rally teams dream of tarmac stages. I know that I do.

I would suggest to the organizer that you should have Rally-America sanction the event though. All of the Oregon and Washington events are now sanctioned by R-A so any rally team from those two states going to your NASA sanctioned event would need another license / membership. I'm certain that you would lose entrants to your event because of this. Please reconsider your sanctioning body.

Best regards,

Charles"

I really hate this shit. WTF? True I haven't even been rallying, but with RA's rules I never could with my car anyway. They don't want newbies like me. I would guess there are other NW teams that can't compete in an RA event as well.

And since when has every NW event been RA? Good thing Canada is so close!

This cheerleading shit just pisses me off and you can't say shit about it on the "other" website.

What a fucking braindead pussnutted limpdick nogood kiss ass.

Wanna know what?

RA is offering $4000 for regional rally insurance fees to organisers now, even though their deadnutts cost is $10K. Guess what will happen once they get those rallies on their side, get ready for a 200% increase the next year. In the mean time who will get fuckered ????? Us, competitors.

Who the hell is this stroke? "Most rallyists dream of tarmac?" "Please reconsider your sactioning body?" Translation time, fellas. "Join us and to hell with them or actually trying to get as many people involved as possible."

This is one Charles who certainly should NOT be in charge. What a joke!

The ugly, corporate side of the rally community is starting to become apparent to this FNG. If something as extreme as a 200% increase in event costs is coming down the pike next year for all the competitors who jump on board to take advantage of bargain basement insurance this time around, I can only see such as a tactic with which some people would see NASA dismantled and a LOT of people put out of rally indefinitely.

It pisses me off, but it's really just sad to see that it's got to be like this. Screw organizing a rally. I want to organize a sanctioning body. Wonder how much I could get for my left nut on eBay...

Hey,
We live in a capitalist world where beginner struts are 5K bucks ok. What did ya expect?
Does anyone get the logic behind being able to afford 5k dollar struts but not being able to afford 100 bucks in licensing fees?

Deadnutts cost is significantly more than $10K.

Charles is the head of Safe Drives so think about that when shopping.

He also thinks the MR2 is the most fantastic P car ever.

He is inflicted with the I am to young to be allowed to talk virus.

Oh bullshit. The NWO doesn't want anyone "newbie" or "oldbie" without a Subaru and a huge bank account.

Given that this forum is largely made up of malcontents, wannabes, and never-weres, nothing you read here is true.

Charles has, for a number of years, been one of the biggest critics of the status quo, be it SCCA, Rally America, or whomever. He is a low-budget competitor, with a business that caters to the low-budget enthusiast, and he means well for the rally community. His Safe Drives business has sponsored a number of west-coast events, regardless of sanctioning body. He wants the sport to be available to the grass roots enthusiast.

Those of you who think he is a RA, or any, toady are full of shit.

Hugs 'n' kissies,

Ben

I suppose the real question is...

Are the two competing sanctioning bodies actively trying to steal each other's events? And, are they willing to lose money on the insurance to do so?

Having never organized an event I'm not familiar with the funding schemes -- is there any other revenue (besides the insurance fees) that works its way into the Sanctioning Body's hands? If not, what possible benefit would there be to stealing an event at an economic loss?

Cheers, Ted

Ted,

As far as I can see, RA is having a single sided competition, I didn't see NASA going out of their way to snatch an RA rally.

I was talking to a new competitor yesterday who had a legitimate technical question, he called RA and got the runaround from JB, later on he called NASA and not only got his question answered, he also received guidance and solutions. This is an amateur budget rallyist who wants do get guidance before he wastes his time and money.
