to all the organization talk - the more obligations we pile on people, (treasurer, grand-pubah, . .., CCCpresident)
the less fun we'll all be having.
other than the club paperwork, because someone/thing has to own this car.
CCCP has had it's time and fizzled (3times)
a monthly meeting has and never will work.
I'm thinking it will end up being more cellular. 3-5 people getting together, then 1 or 2 of those people hanging out with a different group. an amoeba or slime mould of club, rather than 'roberts rules of order'
who want's to come over and watch WRC mexico at my house on MARCH 14th

Why exactly does organization mean less fun?

Because with a formal structure comes responsibility and accountability.
On a serious note, the Canadian rally scene is run under a club system. The most difficult part of that is finding people who will step-up and take the roles of responsibility in the clubs. Everyone wants to go play but no-one wants to be responsible for keeping things in order.

In most cases clubs are less democratic than they should be and still end up being run by unilateral decisions and, to some degree, personal agendas. Usually, if the personal agendas don't match the general consensus, that person doesn't last long. Term limits are really effective for keeping the 'powers that be' fluid.

When you are obligated to do something it becomes a chore. I'd like to help, think the idea is great, not the least bit interested in monthly meetings or having to drive up there to take care of business. I have more than enough shit I hafta do down here.

I don't want my name on any car or club ownership.

Is Grant's goat old enough to cross state lines without violating the Mann Act??

Would people be opposed to teleconferencing? Even a C corporation can hold it's annual meeting via telephone...

I mean, a club is most likely the best way to do this. "less fun" be damned, its how its set up and run that determines that. If you don't want to have that responsibility, you don't need to be a decision maker. Just pay your money like you would anyway, and go on with your life.

I'm looking up more information for how often you need to have meetings for a 501 c 7. I mean, really, anyone can pick up the phone and talk for an hour... even every month.

but.. that's only if people actually want a club, and like the other possibilities a club has.

once a year is the mandatory meeting for the 503c. That means, at some point once a year, 2 people need to have a chat. done. The "club" part is just for car ownership, so no single person is tied to ownership just in case.
