In the picture is there a crack to the right of the circular plug? on the suspension member?

I don't think so - it may be casting marks. Found a pic of another arm and it looks like there's a ridge there...so likely just a shadow from my phone cam.

Yep. So do most minvans, too. Including HHRs and PT Cruisers, which are mini-minivans. And then there are the (quite literally) millions of Ford twin I-beam trucks with the shock mount just a stud that is sort of plug-welded to the radius arm, which then breaks off after a while...

might want to look into hydraulic bumpstops, the one's you've got put a heck of a dent in the top of your um, wood.
