Do some more math. Ie., go look at what it will cost to replace the crossmember in a current car. None used, oh well, just run by the dealership and pick one up.

The uprights on my Golf were $395 each at the junk yard... about $12 less than at the dealer... To finlly get driveshafts in the dam thing took a $2000 check mailed off to some drag race place...

I started with a running $400 car and spent about $18,000 to $25,000 to make it good, I wonder if I start with a $10,000 car can I get one with brakes, power, gearing etc so I will not need to spend so much to make it what it was not and since I would be starting with a better car will I also get factory reliability?

I helped get the C4 up to Dennises shop so I know that car, also I had a AWD car and they are so gosh darn boring...

In the long run reality always wins.

I keep thinking one of those new Mustang GTs would be sweet. They have a "Body-In-White" program on those suckers. Lots of (fairly reliable HP), parts, etc.

Biggest issue would be finding a 15" wheel and tire to fit over any brakes good enough to stop the thing. I think Mark Utecht gave up looking and runs 17's with Hakkas or something.

The body-in-white program does not include a title and specifies that the car not be titled for street use. Its possible that an exemmption could be made for a rally car for the right team/driver. I bet it would take $30K to build one of those into a rally car.

I've noticed you are not signed up for the national according to the OT website. I hope that you have remedied this clerical oversight so you can run MaxAttack! It would be a shame if a former Group F winner didn't join the fray.

If Kris doesn't read this in time can someone who talks to the guy see to it that he does the right thing. He could easily take home some cash at OT.

Regarding Utecht's tire choice. Mike Hurst didn't ran radials because the car litterally burns through tires too quickly in the back. Heck, my RX7 does. Hurst advised Utecht on tire choices that worked for him and Mark has taken his advice

soft conditions, BFG Mud Terrains
harder conditions, Bridgestone Dueler Revo truck tires
Snow and Ice, grab a vest and work the event

They're signed up as National on the Rally-America site. They signed up for both and probably the OTR site only shows their regional status.

What I wanna know is what happened to the new car? They've changed their entry and and it shows them running the greenbean again.

I was literally minutes away from blowing my rally budget (time and money) to max-attack this thing.

then I remembered that a 5th in Gp2 at doo wops, is not the same as 5th 2WD at a National event.

I forgot to take into account gp5, and production cars too.

next year, you murderous bastard. next year.
2L power.

ps. do they ever weigh the cars?

I'll see the survivors at oly!
and spectate at OT, as planned. (signs anyone?)

Cripes! Regular old golf stuff or something fancy?
