Oh... I was able to get a new Kawasaki Jet Ski sponsorship, with unlimited 2 stroke oil, and unlimited fuel for the summer of 1989.

I doubt Subaru or Mitsubishi or would do the same...

Not bad for planning events and raising awareness of the sport.

cool, thanks for the info guys. No not doing it for money. Doing it so I can run these roads myself. 18 possible people? Sounds good, so say 5 show up smiling smiley by the way I like Mike drive my civic in a rally cross, so I kind of know him. I guess I need to start making some phone calls to the Nasa, seeing how they might be easier to deal with than rally amurka

No, the first thing to do is get your permit process started. BLM, County, Forest Service, etc. Find out who controls those roads and if they'll even allow you to use them. You may have to get an Environmental Impact Report done, which you will likely have to pay for.

Getting insurance is easy - RA/USAC/NRS will be more than happy to insure you. They'll want to see your safety plan and operations plan and staffing and will want to take a look at your Supps and all that, but they're both relatively easy to work with. (Dunno about USAC, but that goes for RA and NRS West. And I think if you choose NRS you'll be under the West's domain, so you'd be working with the Hockers, not Anders.)

But if you can't get permits your event is a no-go from the start.

And yeah, look up Mad Mike Halley. He's a terrific resource and not too far away.

yea, well there is an offroad park at the place for motorcycles and atvs, so i don't know that the environmental part will be a big deal.

Reece - you are a GOD-DAM GENIUS! (cue R. Lee Ermey voice)

I've been essentially of the same mind as yourself, but wondering exactly where would be a good place for this - and you drop this right out of the sky.

If you need any help, you got my cell? (pm me)

Mad Mike would be an excellent choice for a first-shot Rallymaster, I believe (not to take anything away from you - but he's done this a few times now, IIRC)

I'm in Chicago and will have a car in 2014...I'd make the trip if you do it, even if the first year or two is a cluster-fuck.

It's on the edge, but Oklahoma is actually "Eastern" for NRS.

OP, I'd take a look at the Rally Sprint In A Box stuff, and sure, call me in a week or so. smiling smiley

well looking at it, and if i could get 2 passes on each route, it would be around 30 stage miles... not exactly asking for people to drive down from chicago. Yea Anders I need to get with ya. I tried contacting Okc and of course I forgot it was sunday. When its not raining I am going to go out there and get video of the trails. Just to keep the excitement of this thread going.

Apparently so. Alas, my brain is full and I'm pretty sure that little bit of nearly-useless trivia knocked out something important. Like, um... that other thing.

k the first trail is 5 miles long, the second trail is also 5 miles long but the gate was closed. The 2.5 mile trail was closed when i went.

What I want to know is are these roads worth it?

That road looks fine, standard midwestern stage road. How's the surface? Is it just red dirt? Does it go straight to unpassible with an inch of rain? Rally Colorado had some stages that were grease on glass unpassible when wet.

The road looks good, but I'll second Tony's question. Does the road become impassable if it's wet?

It looks like there's a couple of places where the lake isn't that far away, and you're aiming right for it. The insurance co. might want a dive team on standby at the event.

This is more for your rally master, how many stages are you planning on running? It looks like you could offer 2x through the roads and then reverse them. What about stage crews? I think I am seeing three roads, so three crews? And sign boards, and timing equipment.

Have you thought about a date? No one probably wants to come to OK in the middle of summer, although there might be a couple hardy souls who would.

Since you mentioned Perryville, and I can legitimately see Perryville like entry numbers, talk to Rob Wright, Perryville Chairman, about budget numbers.

Finally, good luck.
