Chumstick rd out of Leavenworth is my favorite. Chuckanut drive is really good. Go over to the peninsula, the road on the north or east side of crescent lake is super good, as is the run up hurricane ridge.

Mountain loop highway is really fun, as the name states it is a loop, but 12 or so miles is gravel. Really smooth gravel though.

Go further out from Seattle and the road on the backside of Mt St Helens is epic.

Hit up soundrider and all your questions will be answered.

Anybody know the name of that backside of St. Helens road? Trying to find it on google maps... Also, is it one of those damn national forest roads with a speed limit of 14 mph? I hate those...

not sure as I've only been over that way once, I remember going through a town called Cougar

which probably doesn't help you at all haha

Find RANDLE WA on US 12, head souf follow signs, first "131, then NF25, then keep going. I just did that a year ago with wifey, her sister, her girlie and our 2 girlies..all yacking away at 100 mph in mandarin and Cantonese same time (the girls in Mandarin, the moms in Cantonese..YIKES!) It was fun even in a Suburban It goes thru some Old Growth groves, and you can have fun...

Woodland Wa: Lewis River Rd->NF90->NF25 or NF30. I think Lewis river and NF90 were paved about 3 yrs ago smiling smiley
All so much fun. Plus, there is a ton of single lane paved roads everywhere out there. It is a very popular motorcycle destination too. So you have to be on the lookout for boy-racers being stupid. A friend of mine worked for the National Parks on St.Helens. Every day someone on a motorcycle crashed doing the above sections of road.

I second the hwy 112 towards Neah bay, better yet; do it at night so you can see the lights of oncoming cars and in the middle of a torrential downpour like I did to add to the pucker factor.

I will say it is anything but smooth though! Road keeps sliding into the sea.

Mad River Road Entiat, WA is the #1 best paved road I know in WA. Hope you like elevation change if you have a go on that one. The road does not go to anything so almost no traffic.

Back Side St. Helens - yep that is a hoot, road it on the last day of a multi week & State motorcycle trip last year - best road of the entire trip. Peg dragging a fully loaded dual sport on knobby tires with out really exceeding the speed limit.

In the long run reality always wins.

Holy crap, that one looks great! Are those gravel roads gated, or can you drive on those too?

So, when all of you are talking about the backside of st helens, which backside, lol

today I put some miles on the mutant for Todd and took 503 out of Woodland and past Cougar to SR90 and then went south from there on some river rds to get to Carson on 14 and 14 back to I5

there were some rough patches on 90, but other than that it was mostly a pretty nice drive, there was some snow but all cleared off the roads so no worries

would have been a lot more fun in my protege5 since the mutant had the rally tires on it
