Shipping from England
August 29, 2013 01:17PM
Hi Guys,

I am trying to buy a light pod from England and the shipping is killing me. So far the cheapest method I have found is TNT for $292. The pod isn't a whole lot more than that.

Any suggestions on how to get that over to North Carolina cheap?

Thanks
Brad

I can text, but the pod won't be ready for 3-4 weeks. Is he going back anytime soon?

Thanks for your help.

If a hand carry option falls through....
What dimensions and weight is it? Does it need insured to cover value?
I'll happily checkout options and prices from this side if you let me know the details.

Best bet is probably to see if anyone else needs the same pod and double or triple up on the shipment. Its not likely to increase the shipping fees all that much.

I think I got dinged for ~$1100 for the entire CM3C kit for my hatchback about 2 years ago. Ended up doing air freight because that was quick and less likley to incur damage and only cost ~$100 over having it come on the boat. Something something about customs fees likely being higher if they came on the boat too if I remember correctly because the inspections were more thorough or something like that.

When you are logged into Gmail, on the right bar, below Inbox, Spam, Trash, etc. there is a chat window. It should show a list of names and contacts that are currently online. There's a white text box that has greyed letters that say "Search, chat or SMS" Click in there and enter the phone number. A little pop up has two options, Call or Send SMS. Choose the latter and a new box will pop up asking for more information and such.

Another potential option would be to start a Google Voice account and send text through that.

Hope those help!

Duty is duty, new or used auto parts: 2.3%.

Brokers are a huge variable though. Gotta watch forwarders, and brokers like hawks.
Sea goes by volume ad you could send anvils and it doesn't change the cubic meter rate---last time I shipped was 2 or so years ago and it was USD165/m3.
Air goes by weight unless its really light--like fiberglass hooo ha junk then they pull outta the hat a "volume multiplier" so the charge more..

(been doing imports now for seriously 50 years, German and British model houses and building in 1/87th and 1/72 scale, Faller and Airfix...)

Checked frieght on sending a couple of shipments of Fuel Safe Fuel cells in to Hong Kong for some Chinese rally guys...Jeeeeeeeeeeeeezusz!!!!!

I mailed them "Priority" for 1/4to 1/3 the cost and arrived 3 days later..
