My Rally career...
September 05, 2013 06:22PM
Looks like my rally time is going to come to a sudden stop. Not that it already hasnt. Looks like Im either starting a new job with a new company in Portland on the 23rd of this month, or if CenturyLink comes up with a better counter offer, moving to North Carolina. If CTL does come up with a better counter offer, it most likely will be in Wake Forest, NC were all the IP/Ethernet stuff happens. So, rallying will either be on hold for quite some time, or come to a sudden end. Should be interesting.

There's rally in both Portland and North Carolina, change gears not ram into a wall. Change is change, the only constant.

you are aware that that funny Anders guy lives thereabouts in NC, right?
I mean, he's not really involved with rally, but he might know some people who are... smileys with beer

(I can't argue with the thought that moving cross-country will probably require at least a minor pause in your rally career, but I could think of worse places to live for rally than Portland or NC...)

Sometimes a change of scenery is good for you.

Portland. Hands down. You can learn to ignore the infestation of terminally hip fixie bike riding, skiny jeans wearing, live in Mommy's basement Volvo driving hipsters which might be the worst thing you have to deal with in Portland..

But you can't ignore 95 degrees and 88% humidity.
So there goes the whole Eastern HALF, fully half the country.

Just living in the same state as Anders Green gets you ten extra awesome-rallier points.

In addition to that bonus there are these fine folk who would also be your rallying neighbors:

USUK Racing - Simon & Kieran Wright
Janko's - Sebastian Kokoszka
RallyCats Moterspurtz - Kevin Allen & Liz Cordara

New job...counter offer...these sound like income-increasing things that should HELP your rally effort, not hurt it.

I do live in Charlotte! So does Paul Ferreira, Dennis Romero and Kent Davis, just to name a few.

As far as racing goes there are a few racing companies based here. Motec, Penske shocks has an office here, hell the now defunct US F1 team was here. Do I even need to talk about all of the Nascar teams and their suppliers........

You could live in worse places. I did!

Thanks
Brad

If portland, then its only put off for quite a while. prepping the house to be sold and finding a place to move to with all my crap. if NC, thats different for us. Itll take even longer to get set back up. a couple years atleast if we find a house right away. it really all depends on the offers. i want portland since itll still be close and easier to get settled. but NC is tempting since its completely different and in the field i want. but its probably gonna take longer to get settled enough where i can ditch the wife to work on the rally car. i didnt mean end as in never again. just those pesky brick walls you have to break thru once in a while.
