Rocky info?
October 14, 2013 09:38PM
It has been almost twenty years since I was last at a Rocky Mt. Rally. I hear the roads are new. There isn't anything on the website yet. Does anyone have some info or advise? Snow? Rough or smooth? Night stages? Lots of transit? Central service area?

Thanks.

Robert.

It's in Invermere BC

Supps are a bit hidden on the site but they are there ... or here:

Roads are all new, never been run for anything before.

If the roads stay on the valley floor then snow is unlikely but... it's Rocky so you have to be prepared. (Even at the end of may there has been snow almost every year, moved the event to November to get away from snow!)

Definitely night stages on Friday (Sunset is 6:18pm Friday, Stages run till 9)

Green Crew were smiling all weekend checking the route while we were at PFR.

A combination of rough and smooth ... most are active logging with a really solid base, but apparently there are some rough bits.

LOTS of transit, LOTS of stage distance in the National.

Supps say total 660km (410 mi) total distance in the event with 230 km (142 mi) of stage (regional 556(345mi)/172(106mi)), but the final skeds will be sent out to registered competitors on the 22nd. I'm hearing rumours of a sked change and more transit.

Host Hotel is AWESOME and great prices for what you're booking.

Single service area and a 'fuel shuttle' for the remote fuel zone so you don't need to send a crew-member.

We're still recovering from the free beer hangover.

The free beer at the banquet was nice.

The roads were alternatingly icey or slushy.

My driver was very quick. I made an epic time card blunder that cost us a good finish. We still had great fun.
