For fitment I went in to the store and test fit a Bell Mag 4 and then they ordered the size to match.

You went to Pegasus in WI? Or some local place called "the store"? confused smiley

Pegasus in WI, it's less than an hour from my place in Chicago. Very nice guys, and they have a pretty good array of suits/helmets/etc in stock, so I was able to actually compare. Worth mentioning with the helmets is always try it as you're going to race in it. The first Bell helmet I tried I was able to fit, but as soon as I put a balaclava on, it suddenly didn't fit (that close). It was also oddly uncomfortable with the HANS. Moving up 1 size in helmet it fit nicely with the balaclava and HANs. I apparently have a gigantic head.

You can order the Bell Mag Rally 1 with the intercom pre-installed in the US for $459, just nobody stocks them so you need to special order. I ordered mine through Pegasus, got it drop shipped for free and had it I think in about 2 weeks from ordering. The intercom was a nice fit/volume for me. For fitment I went in to the store and test fit a Bell Mag 4 and then they ordered the size to match.

Was the sizing similar or same? I've thought about stocking that helmet as a decent budget rally option. It's a Peltor intercom as I understand.

As best I can tell, it was the same. It's possible that I am not able to detect the small difference between them though.

Thanks John! That's great info and $459 shipped is a great price. Must be nice being driving distance to Pegasus. I've ordered alot of stuff from them over the years.

hehe.. better than shouting :-D

I hope

I will confirm that using a terraphone is better than shouting, I've done both. The slight problems with alternator hum and amplification aren't enough of an issue for me to throw more money at. But my car isn't that loud and appears to be grounded properly.

Twas fine until he put those JVAB Green Suspenders on it!

Another "Blame JVL"!!!

2 points for Carl for the "grounding", but I heard the audio was a bit "muddled."

Are the terriblephones battery powered? My new car came with a Peltor FMT220 (the super expensive one) and was wired to the car. Sounded like shit with alternator whine. I removed the hard wire and relocated it so I can change out the 9V easily. It's clear as day now. I'd rather change a 9V every race just out of normal prep then deal with a whiney intercom.

Lots of navvies have "spare 9V" on their personal inventories for just this reason.

Grassroots rally. It's what I think about.

Not all of them. I have one that wired to the car, no real issues for over 12 years of use. Sometimes the volume could be a little louder but generally speaking it's worked fine. YMMV. (BTW, my British cars don't have all those "standard" electrical issues that everyone complains about either. So I must be lucky).
