Well, we sat it out early..... car was overheating (~290 degrees) and ignition was failing us.

nice sunset though.... and a motorcycle crash 30' ahead of us while we were toying around on the road side.

I'm assuming that oil temp and not cylinder head temp. What oil you running?

this was Jason Lightner's car. Had a fresh engine as of earlier in the week. So problems associated with last minute attempts to make the rally basically. And yes oil temp.

Not sure if this is much help, but I did a bunch of oil testing a few years ago with a motorcycle engine on a dyno. We were specifically looking at oil temperatures and oil breakdown. The best performing oil was Motul 300V, full synthetic. Went north of 285-ish without massive break down, as in no engine damage. Everything else was toast at 260.
