I didn't say nationally either. You assumed that.
True, but given that the context of your comment was within a thread titled 'Can RWD win 2wd national events consistently?' I think it is a fair assumption.

Unless I'm wrong in assuming a regional event and national event aren't two separate competitions then how is not winning a regional event by being faster than everyone else overall? If you were the fastest amongst every regional competitor then it is an overall victory.
Some would agree with you, others wouldn't. I don't.
This past weekend, there were overall winners of 5 regional events and one national event in the USA and Canada. But for the teams who competed at Oregon Trail Rally, there really was only one overall winner. Any other 'overall' winner needs to be qualified.

If you built a car that was reliable throughout the competition than you shouldn't feel guilty to outlasting everyone else if that is the case. Stuff happens in racing. If that is the case then they might as well not even award victories to those once cars start breaking down because it wasn't earned anyway, right?
We'd all 'take' the win for sure. Durability and stamina to make it through an event are all part of the sport for sure. BUT... from a personal/team development standpoint you really do have to recognize when you've earned your win vs. when it's been handed to you.

All in all, I'm not going to anoint FWD but it is true that lesser men in terms of driving will have an easier time taming a FWD car.

Obviously you have no experience, but so you dont make arrogant and ignorant statements like this again and make yourself look like a fool, I'll let you know, from personal experience on both platforms, on low power applications, yes FWD is easier to drive, but on a higher power setup, like M3 power for example the FWD car becomes diabolical and very hard to drive. RWD no, the more power the easier it is to drive. See in rwd you get no torque steer.

Don't assume about me because you will make an ass out of u and me. I have plenty of racing experience moreso in the autocross and endurance theater (SCCA and LeMons using all sorts of drive platforms and power applications). I've driven on gravel and snow (not down here) but it wasn't a competitive race so I have plenty of personal experience.

Mr Thomas, only half of your statement is true: Cosworth won't be making an ass of himself with his assumptions. You've done autocross and lemons, you have no rally racing experience. So when he says "you have no experience", on this rally forum, he's right. No need to get all butt-hurt about it. Given his personal racing experience, and his work within the world of professional racing, you will be able to learn a lot from him if you set your ego aside for a moment. If, on the other hand, you believe you have nothing left to learn about rally racing and there's no way there could be an area of racing about which you are not already an expert... then why bother discussing it.

There are a few things I know about this sport, but many more areas where I am ignorant of a variety of details. It's acknowledging the areas that I don't know about and pursuing them that I become more informed. I certainly wouldn't go tell some autocrossers that I knew all about what _they_ were doing because I done a bunch of rally driving. I'm not sure it's possible to imagine the gap between the two until you've done it, so, some humility is in order.

Best,
Anders

Does anybody else find it funny that SS11 onboard has now been posted on every page of this thread (at least on my settings.) Three times now. Ha.

Yeah, kinda no. It's more like a class victory. But you see, your statement shows that you lack the nuanced understanding of how national/regional events are scored and entered and counted. That's ok, you're new, there's lots to learn. There's nothing wrong with not knowing everything.

But relax, man. Perhaps ask yourself "Hmmm, is there something I'm missing?" Because that attitude might move you more quickly down the education road.

Now I'm curious what kind of power Paul's Honda makes.

And Jardevall's new Volvo is nearly done.

Pfffffft
bist du ein gross schwule, Norbert?

I see you you faggy Bowel Movement Wonder on tarmac eye rolling smiley

And raise you this---now known as "the Clip"

Seriously, not the pooftie German tarmc ccar, but
THIS vs this OOOOoooooooOOOOOH la la the E-whatever so soooooooooo dreamy

which do you think you could have fun with longer?

Which--given the same driver---do you really think would work better:
a basically stock E-whatever 240 hp/225 ft/lbs--a street car with nice suspension and nice calipers
and the schizoid box and gearing for 165 mph,

or the Slägg-raser
real box, real gears , real brakes and same bhp

Or maybe
the same car with 220 bhp and 240-260 ft-lbs
gears to match and brakes?

Seriously?

And what do you think it would cost?

Checked average prices on Ad-hunter???

Lets just say "A Lot"!
What does a lot mean? Last year Paul and I broke the hill climb stage record at RWV (@4000ft + elevation) with no rear brakes (had a ruptured line all bias to front) and busted right rear suspension. It's capable of winning stages even certain events OA!
Not only does it make gobbs of power, it has the right gearbox, right brakes, right driver and the right co-driver-Me! lol

rally gods would turn in their graves if they ever knew Lada's were now part of EU rallying!!!

Just hung out at his shop and then had dinner with him. It's a 940 Turbo, with some extra goodies. Very cleanly built, as his cars always are. He'll be at Olympus.

Lots of power is not needed to win stages, heck I was second overall several times in my golf with 160 WHP.

High HP/Tq cars accelerate fast, light cars accelerate fast, brake better and turn easier. As I use to say; all rally cars are All Wheel Brake! So when driving 2wd make sure to make the braking count as there is no disadvantage to the AWD cars.

In the long run reality always wins.
