holy shit batman. I'm guessing he does hillclimb and not rally cuz there's no codriver that'll get in the car with him?

He might be going fast, but that's some pretty sloppy driving. Pitching the car sideways, locking the tires under braking...all big tarmac nonos.

The car is also a bit twitchy for tarmac as well.

Anybody else notice the corner-exit oversteer? Not from the power as much as from the rear suspension setup. I autocrossed a car set up this way once (upper link at the wrong angle) and it was quite a handful. Turned in great, but at the exit all hell broke loose at the rear!

Huge rear t[y|i]res as well. I agree, suspension wonky? The frontend seems to be moving a lot more than most Escorts I've seen. I thought front suspension that actually moved was a big no-no for those smiling smiley

On the other hand, he probably doesn't have to worry about going nose-first off the road.

Why shit I guess some of you should write the driver and let him know he is doing it all wrong. Hell he was only 1st overall on the hill climb where he was not so clean and locked the brakes etc.

You might wish to CC every other driver of an escort or for that matter all the drivers of rwd rally cars for the last 30 years and let them know they could have been a lot faster if they had not slid around so much.

Or you might contemplate how rally is not the same as track racing and investigate why that is. Could it be tire width limits? Unknown braking points? Gravel on the surface? More bumps in the road?

Not really Bob. What I saw was the car getting a bit light at some exits over crests, and the front end pushed out, the driver had to turn in and the car got sideways; at leat one was anticipated and the extra turn-in done early. It was a bit twitchy at one exit onto a longish straight, but I attributed that to the pavement being a bit uneve and the rear biting unevenly. This all looked pretty normal high HP, agrressive RWD to me!

HEY! Finally just about got the '72 Manta body rust spots welded/patched. Ready to check the under side and them start on the rear axle fitting, then cage, then new front suspension. Exciting!

Mark B.

Hee. The neat thing about RallyAnarchy is you can watch people's head explode when there's a not-politically-correct opinion posted.

There's something uniquely different about driving a car with 400+ hp and 100-150 hp also. Also, hill climbs you do not care about saving your car, or trying to make it to service. It's 100% from the start. Again, uniquely different driving style and method. Oh, and since you know well what every corner is, there's a tendency to push the limits every corner. Only time I've seen this done in rally is in the Finnish Group F championship and the very top level of WRC. Part of why I find 90% of US videos boring to watch, but can watch Mikka Kaupinnen footage all day long.

IT is OK I say it all with a grin on my face.

I like the Anarchy forum where we can just get it out in the open.
