This idea reminds me of some lines from the film Wild at Heart with some subtle casting adjustments.
Samaraev plays the role of Sailor and a large proportion of the rally community play the Idiot Punk. Oh, and swap the word "jacket" for Mercedes. Sailor: Did I ever tell ya that this here jacket represents a symbol of my individuality, and my belief in personal freedom? Idiot Punk: You look like a clown in that stupid jacket. Samaraev: This is a snakeskin jacket! And for me it's a symbol of my individuality, and my belief... in personal freedom. Judging by how few Mercs there are in rallying I suspect there may be other more suitable vehicles to start with. But please do not give up. Listen to what others suggest as we need more Sammys on stage!!

There are almost certainly better choices to build into a rally car. And this is one of the reasons the c280 is probably not the best choice.
