I have a German built Tabbert camper, it is a 1974 model, and it has standard mechanical surge brakes, and sway control. It is 14ft and weighs 1000kg. We tow it with our 245 (but ford 2.3 turbo powered). Love the old euro campers.

After running around, testing many and changing my mind 1000 times I got a new 2010 Honda CR-V. 2WD, cheapest "basement model" for $ 23 000 cash outta door. I'm happy.
I found out, as someone pointed out, US dealers DON'T want people to tow anything! That's why they lie low weight numbers. European and Canadien payloads are pretty much same. I go by Canadian. If something happens I blame Canada smiling smiley
Uhaul has the best price for many hitches and for CRV they have 4000 lbs hitch for $ 125 - the highest rated. I got that since that allows me to rent HD trailers from Uhaul as well.
BTW - Honda's trailer numbers are only 1500 lbs! And their flimsy hitch is $ 450...

- RWD rocks -
